But they are bonded and they are comrades. They share everything, and their scents are blended throughout your home, which they would term their territory. Mutual grooming puts the scent of each on the other, an olfactory manifestation of that bond, which is very important in their version of your home. Aside from the scent thing, the tactile aspect of the licking and grooming is familial and reassuring -- the momma cat grooms her kits. And all subsequent grooming that cat does carries some of that nurturing, familial snugginess with it, when it grooms another cat.
Am I making sense here? It is bonding beyond bonding. It is brotherhood, family. Have your cats ever groomed you? My cat used to groom me a little from time to time. It is a lovely, cat kind of thing. A real compliment.

Cats form friendships and extended family just like we do. The mutual grooming is completely normal between two cats who like/love each other. They're family. Even if it's not genetically 'family', they still consider themselves family.

Just cats being cats. They consider each other to be part of their "pride" and that is how they show affection and acceptance. You are fortunate to have 2 males that get along that well.
