The root canal went all the way up into my sinus cavity and the temporary filling feels very tight (it is tooth #14-top left) yet I don't want that temp filling stuff to come out.

I still can't eat on that side (I had a hole in my tooth as well as needing a root canal in the same tooth). When will I be able to eat on the left side? I am getting a crown in 5 weeks.

# 14 is a premolar. I am not a dentist, but I am an assistant and I do know that usually when RCT is preformed the dentist will go into the canal through the occlusal surface (chewing surface) of the tooth.
Were you instructed not to floss? If so...don't. The filling may come out.
Most likely, it should be OK to floss if you weren't instructed otherwise.
There may be temporary filling material stuck in between your teeth( causing that tight feeling), flossing may be beneficial.
It's up to you. If the tight feeling is bothering you, try to floss. Just be gentile.
When removing the floss...DON'T pull down. Instead, pull straight out. ( Like removing a hair from your mouth ) Sorry for the vivid, gross picture...it's the only way I can explain.
Either way, if the temp. material comes out, call your dentist and he/she will replace it. (Usually free of charge.)

It could be either, but if it hit all of a sudden, it might just be a cavity that is down to the nerve a bit. I get that, and the dentist said it's just a cavity that needs filled. When my aunt needed a root canal, it was a constant throbbing for five minutes or more.

YOU CAN SAFELY FLOSS THIS TOOTH LIKE ALL OTHERS.\
THE TEMP. FILLING IS PROBABLY A LITTLE HIGH WHICH WILL WEAR DOWN IN TIME BY THE END WHEN YOU HAVE THE PERMANENT CROWN.
IF IT BOTHERS YOU EVERY TIME YOU BITE, GO BACK TO THE DENTIST FOR A SIMPLE QUICK ADJUSTMENT TO YOUR BITE.
ps #14 is the first upper left molar not to be confused with #13 the second bicuspid-as someone wrote.

It should be fine to floss around that tooth by now. Usually we tell pt.'s to just be careful the day they get the temp. filling. Are you not eating on that side because of pain or because of fear of the temp? It should be absolutely fine to eat on that side. If it hurts, that may mean you need to call your dentist. Temp. fillings are made to hold up for weeks or longer. I know some people who have kept their temporary fillings for years even! (Wouldn't recommend that though). Don't worry!
