Your mom did not commit a crime, she tried to help you out by wanting to buy you a refrigerator. Only thing is, her way of spending money is to not tell her husband where it goes. Trust me, your stepfather is not a dumb man, he most likely is comfortable with this arrangement and as long as their is a roof over his head and food on the table he is content. I agree the way your mom appears to handle his money made you feel uncomfortable so it was best you did buy your refrigerator with your own money. Other than that, all you need to do is tell you mom that you love her that you only felt uncomfortable with her buying you a refrig with his money. And leave it at that.
