When I was in the store the other day I wanted to use some of my dad's money to buy like about three toys to give an I knew he would say no so instead of spending my money on candy I grabed every cent out of my pocket an stuck it in the box! lol Then the lady said thank you an she asked me if I was gonna help a child learn how to read an I told her when I was in 3rd grade my teacher gave me a job teaching the kindergardners how to read an how to pronounce words the right way!

Give it all year long.
1 Corinthians 13:3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
1 Corinthians 14:1 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.
1 Corinthians 16:14 Let all your things be done with charity.
2 Thessalonians 1:3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;
1 Timothy 1:5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

I donate money every month. At the end of the year I make a couple of large donations to children of the americas (latin america) and a clinic in guatemala. Some of it is done in other people's names. I then gift them with receipt for donation in their name.
You wouldn't believe how many peeps get upset about it. They would rather have a CD or toaster I guess but I can't resist starving children in third world countries don'tcha know.
It's not like I'm george costanza donating to the human fund. I *really* donate to charitable organizations.
Happy Festivus everyone.

I donate throughout the year. I'm a member of the Marine Corps League and we raise money for scholarship funds for highschool seniors. We collect toys for Toys for Tots and we do military honors at the funerals of veterans. We also put out flags on the graves of veterans on Memorial and Veteran's day.
I also volunteer with the Red Cross and donate to animal charities.

I give to charities all the time, but not those
touting their do-goodiness.
I'd like to see more "We're doing this just because
it's the right thing to do" type of charities, not "Sponsored
by" or "Held by" types who expect applause for doing
what they should.

I barely have enough for myself and to give gifts to my family. Being a college student and a landscaper on the off season sucks financially!

I can't afford to give money (I'm disabled), but I've been "playing" at Free Rice. I've earn a minimum of 5,000 "grains of rice" a day, every day since I started. I keep it open in the first tab of my browser whenever I'm on-line, and go back and forth between it and whatever else I'm doing.
http://www.freerice.com/index.php
"For each word you get right, we donate 20 grains of rice to the United Nations World Food Program."

Yes, for someone who is greatly missed I will be donating to the main national suicide hotline. My way of still being able to do something for him, that will be helpful to others, and still include him in my gift list.
