Ask any mother. They'd answer the same. Touch or harm my baby and you're dead meat.
It's the most basic human instinct. One's child comes before religion, morals ... or a queasy stomach. No mercy.

Physically, I think we are all capable of taking a human life. I mean, if you can wield a weapon you can take a life. What you ask is if emotionally, or mentally, we are capable of taking a human life and I am not really sure of that. You can't say definetly yes or no until you've encountered such a situation. But on the other hand, even if you were emtionally against it, i dont think that would stop you from taking a life if it meant your survival. Human life is life, but then again, aren't we all animals in this kill or be killed universe? Wait a minute..
(sorry got this stream of conciousness thing going on)
then you say that human life weighs more than a bird or a lion? I think all life is the same and if you are willing to kill one animal, why not the other? You place more value in that of a human which generates some hesitant feelings about killing one. but really the question is are you capable of taking a life in general.
but now that i think about it, its not for us to deceide, we can deceide to bring life, but taking it is not of our choice. I'm not a whole believer in a perfect being overseer, but if one were to take that standpoint its not for us to decide
prettty deep question-
kinda went all over the place
hope you consider it helpful!

Anybody who is able to wield a threatening object is able to take a human life. Just like all dogs who have teeth are capable of biting you. As an intelligent life form we humans are able to discern what is right and what is wrong which is why many do not commit such a crime. We have moral and ethics and character that shapes our thoughts and opinions on certain things. Our frame of mind may not be willing to take a life but yes we are all capable under dire circumstances.

If it was either theirs, mine, or someone else's life. I'd do it in a heartbeat. If they can't value someones else life then I could very easily take them out to save an innocent person.

Yes. A person who attempts to harm any member of my family, my neighbors, or other people whom I care alot about has effectively signed their own death warrant.

Hard to say. It would depend on the circumstances. Any animal when backed into a corner will fight for their life.

If need be, yes. I would probably need therapy, and would definitely go to Confession even if it was a desperate act of self-defense.
