First thing to check is make sure you have a clean air filter. Second is if you haven't replaced fuel line filters in a long time -DO it. Don't know how many fuel filters , you may have two.

While you do that check and make sure you do NOT have any dried cracked vacuum lines.

Cheapest stuff to try first. One more-if you have a choke mechanism somewhere be sure it's not hanging up.

Slow or high idle or all over the place. IAC,AAC device may be a problem. Idle Air Control. Air conditioning Air control device. I have even seen poorly adjusted throttle switches cause idle all over condition.

try cleaning the throttle bottle, and check the idle air control, could be a bunch of other things too

Go to autozone and purchase a product called "Engine Restore" its in a silver can. Add it to your oil next time you change it, it works very well. Also try fuel injector cleaner.

check your spark plugs or it might be the leads to the plugs or maybe you need a new distributor cap
