It costs me £10 to go about two miles so the answer to your question is Too flipping much.
Regarding New Orleans as soon as you step into a cab it will cost you $3.50 and the price varies according to the time of day. There are 400 taxis in New Orleans so you have a big choice. Why not try taking a streetcar or bus only $1,25 for a single ride
