I'm an atheist, so I can't argue, but really can you imagine, if some kid wanted to call his cuddly toy "Jesus" who could care.

There are a lot less Christians called "Jesus" than Moslems called "Mohammed" and Christians think he's God (not a prophet)
Who calls a kid "Jesus", only Mexicans or Spaniards to my knowledge?
Who gets the knickers in a twist about it?
A culture that is secure accepts changes and influences like Ireland did until the genocidal English mobs came rolling in.
Danes, Vikings, Normans became as Irish as the irish

The only threat to Christianity or Islam is the idiots who proclaim they do God's will, like the Taliban or missionaries!
At the worst in the UK you''d get your curry from a Muslim and not a Hindu!
Vive la difference!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DON'T KNOW THE BACKGROUND, TRY PUTTING "ENGLISHWOMAN TEDDY BEAR SUDAN" INTO A SEARCH ENGINE.
The whole issue is beyond satire!

To all you believers out there: actually my atheistic stance does qualify me better to carp on this subject than most of you. After rejecting my very religious Catholic upbringing I travelled for 30 years and was exposed to and read about most of all the major world religions. Therefore my attitude is a result of intellectual searching and not an innate prejudice imbibed from my mothers milk! I'd love to tell you all that you'll find out the truth when you die but you won't even then, because not even us hairless apes have an after-life no matter how special our egotism leads us to think we are.

Human beings in third world environments, especially the hardcore religious fanatics, are in general just a little bit shy of a full load when it comes to common sense.

I wonder if you do live in this world? Everything shows that the Islamic faith is strong and getting stronger everywhere. That's why you have thousands of converts every year in almost every Western country, and guess what, most of them are highly educated and professional people, including a big ratio of women. So calling the faith weak is just a reflection of the ignorance of the person who does so.

There must be, however, an understanding of the cultural differences. Most Muslims love and respect the Prophet more than their own family members. In their culture giving the name of the Prophet to a toy is considered lack of respect. You may not understand it but it's not their problem. That's their culture. You want some comparison? Take Hindus for example, just try slaughtering a cow in the middle of Bombay and if then let me know how they reacted to you, if you ever live to do that!

In all honesty we have to take into account that Sudan is a 3rd world country that has been heavily critiscised by the West over Darfur recently.
It probably sees this as a way to 'get back at the Western world'.
All the muslim leaders in the UK have condemned the actions of the Sudanese courts, so, in the words of us Westcountrymen 'Fair Play' to the Islamic community of the UK for standing by the lady in question!!

P.S. I, too, am an atheist.

The BBC, apparently, has been interviewing the man on the street about that incident with the teddy bear named Mohammad. Most of those interviewed said that if it was indeed a mistake, and she apologized for it, they would be willing to forgive the transgression.

Yes, all religions are precarious, and depend upon total acceptance of their teachings "on faith". There is no room to tolerate any disrespect of their symbols. To do so would invite independent thinking, which is anathema to religion.

No, and I repeat, No!

The Islamic beliefs have firm roots; it's about the Muslims that are overwhelmingly obsessed with The Prophet. And. There’s in fact no fault in Islam, the fault lies with the certain beliefs that Muslims have cultivated with time.

Prophet Muhammad was a person who never took any of the offences personally. So all of you rest assured, it’s the throng of the perverts.

it's not showing weakness, they're just being faithful. You should try to learn about a religion before you call it weak. Mohammad is considered the prophet and people are not allowed to draw his face, hence the reason why pictures of him always have a black area in the facial region. As far as the name goes, it is considered a holy name. Jesus is different because he is part of the Holy Trinity, he isn't THE main god. and i know somebody out there is going to disagree with me but trust me, I'm in a World Religions course and i understand every religion so you better know a lot more than i do before you put me down.

Muslims name themselves by all of the prophets and messengers names: Adam, Issa (Jesus), Abraham, Yaqub (Jacob), Mohamed, Musa (Moses), Nuh (Noah), Da'ud (David) etc. should I go on? Even Christians have these names... you have got to remember it is just a name!!!!!!

P.S: Islam has nothing against Jesus (We believe he is a prophet sent from God ). So why would he be a threat!!!!!????

I, as a Muslim don't see anything wrong with calling a toy by the name of Jesus (Issa), what about dogs named Adam (Is this a representation of Adam from Adam and Eve?) Of course NOT!!!!!

You, as an atheist should get your facts right!!!!!!! Besides what do you believe? Yeah that's right... are you not the weakest of faith since you have none????
Who's the idiot here? REALLY???!!!!!!!

Most of the Islamic countries also practice Sharia law which makes their believers follow some very strict rules. Punishment for violating some of their laws is death. Leaving Islam is one of them.

I totally agree with what you say. And in future I am making my own curry at home rather than support any muslim (islamic). And you knwo what they say. Home made curries are the best.
And before I go.
Islam can take their shria laws and stuff them where the sun doesn't shine........
