Invstrgadget: I would have to agree, but the question is about those 2 specific groups.

I understand you can not generalize an entire group of people, the point of the question was to see how many would say that their own group was the more open minded ones.

Christians more often than not have a very emotional connection to their religion. Atheists usually have no particular emotional attachment to their lack of beliefs - after all, they don't believe in anything to be attached to. When you see them get passionate (and I don't think most do) I think it's because they get fed up with religion and/or perceive themselves as an unpopular, even persecuted minority. They aren't reacting to the suggestion that they are wrong, they are venting their frustration that so many other people are wrong. Emotion has never been noted for producing rational and impartial conclusions. Since Christians are generally very emotionally invested in their religion, they are much more susceptible to being close minded about critically analyzing the validity of their religious views.
Obviously these are generalities.

The question seems harmless enough....
but so far Only the Atheist have used rather abusive and demeaning language.... And I do mean abusive... In addition they have also said... how stupid and illiterate Christians are... ..doesn't seem to be a case for open mindedness.
On the other hand some Christians have merely pointed out the direction some might go if there is not some kind of conversion.

Well being a Christian myself I would honestly have to say (as a whole) an atheist would indeed be more "open" minded. If you were to go to a Christian and say, "Hey, they found scientific evidence that your savior, Jesus Christ is indeed a fake", they would lugh at you and just walk away, and indeed pray for you later that evening. If you were an Atheist on the other hand, you dont technically have a "hero" if you will to believe in! There is nobody to challenge there!

Casual agnostics, because they don't know whether there is a god or not and are willing to listen to both sides. I know this because im a casual agnostic and i respec the views of Christians/Jews/Muslims/Buddhists/Taoists and Atheists.
edit: i guess if i had to choose, i'd have to go with Christians, i've met more understanding Christians than understanding Atheists. Please don't take offense to this people, im just saying this due to personal experience, i have nothing against either group.

As someone who has discussed Paganism with both sides...I have met ONE...count him, one Christian who has at least listened and then admitted the flaws in his theories on Jesus, the bible etc. I actually had a Christian tell me that my children and I were going to burn in hell (made my children cry) and the rest just either try to convert me or "take pity" on my soul and "pray" for me. Yet I have only met one..maybe two, Atheists who haven't listened.
So, Atheist are much more open minded...at least to someone who is sharing their views on Paganism. And they don't damn me to hell...which is a BIG plus in my book! =oD

A christian. Because a Christian considers the religious side and the scientific side. Atheists only consider science and wont so much as take a look at a bible. Atheist are afraid of authority thats why they claim God dosnt exist. And some will say its because they cannot see God. The wind blows, you cannot see that, but you know its their.

It depends on WHICH Christian and WHICH atheist you refer to.
You cannot generalize that all Christians or all atheists are closed-minded or more open-minded.
OOPS, you misspelled ATHEIST. Better watch out....
