there was no media to influence their decisions, so when war erupted all of the energy was positive..this is why patriotism was higher as we go back in time.

Indignation that their country was attacked and at the fact that so many of their countrymen were killed. The same reason that so many people enlisted after 9-11 and are still doing so, and one of the reasons I did. Even in this era of rampant cynicism and placing the blame on your own country instead of where it is actually due... there are still some of us with a modicum of patriotism and a sense of service to the country that has given us so much.

It was the American thing to do, that is why there are referred to as the "Greatest Generation". Many dropped everything to fight for their country, and many died also.
They returned home after years of deployment and picked up where they left off.
Proud son of WWII Vet and also a VET!

in WW2 we wanted to stay out of it so we were being isolationists but when japan attacked us we felt betrayed they didnt even issue a declaration of war or a warning, so amerincans are very proud and patriotic about there country after WW1 but we still didn't want war so when they attacked that was it we were going to war

Because unlike today people had pride in their nation , felt insulted to be attacked, had courage to do the right thing, and mostly because .....THE SNIVELLING LIBERAL PANSY HAD NOT BECOME SO COMMON.
