Not sure why, but I was thinking about the different types of combat boots used by the US military.
Then I wondered, what types of boots / flippers do the US marines wear when they have to swim to a beach for an amphibious assault like in the commercial? It sure seems like combat boots would be heavy full of water, and flippers wouldn't be very practical for running over sand.

When we do combat water survival we wear combat boots and same during shore landings. The only guys who wear flippers are Recon bubbas but they do HALO jumps into the water out in the middle of no where.

For an amphibious assault you wear boots. Yes, they get heavy, but they're trained for it.
