I am baking a two layer cake i want it to look professional so I'm baking it in two pans...the question is should i make two boxes of mix? 1 for each pan? or should i just divide one box for the two? the pans are regular size round ones...i don't want it to look really skinny but not too big ether...help?

one box will split perfectly into two..round small cake pans; and make sure they cool before you stack them too; and also but off the rounded top; because then the weight of the top cake will make the top cake round over the bottow one and make a huge crack in the top cakeee =] you can leave the top one rounded if you would like

The cake mix in the box is for two pans..When you cook the cake it will rise. So split the cake batter between the two round pans... Remember to butter the bottom of your cake pan and dust it with a little flour to keep the cake from sticking.

One box generally does two 8 inch round pans. Check on the box to be sure.

One cake mix will cover you for two pans.

One box is plenty!!! You have to remember - they're going to rise, and if you put one box of mix in each pan, you're going to be cleaning your oven.

I was stuck in something just like this about a year ago! Just get two boxes, it worked for me.
