Call 2 independent agents (you may be able to call one, many times independent agents that live close to another state are licensed in both) & say you are looking to move to the area, but not exactly sure where you will be & would like quotes in both places (be sure you get quotes for the same coverages & if you call 2 agents, try to have them use the same company) & compare. I would also get quotes in the suburbs of Philly to see how much that would be.

I understand that the insurance climate has loosened up a bit in New Jersey - but it wasn't long ago that people were driving into PA just to GET insurance due to the high cost in New Jersey (and the insurance climate!)

I would suggest that you contact a LOCAL independent agent in BOTH locations and explain your situation to the,. Just look in the local phone book for the PIA or Big I (Trusted Choice) logos and you will find a professional agent that will have over a dozen different insurance companies to help solve your dilemma.

Good luck and I hope this helps!

Ouch!! Philly has the highest rates in the country.
if car ins costs were the only issue, get as far away from phila as you can.

Shop around. Pay a visit to a local agent. He can give you exact figures.

CHECK WITH THE BOARD OF INSURANCE WHICH IS ON LINE AND THIS WAY YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SEE FIRST HAND ALL INSURANCE COMPANIES INCLUDING THEIR RATINGS PRICING AS WELL AS HOW THEY PAY AND TREAT CONSUMERS AND MAYBE BE ABLE TO ASSIST YOU.
