dental schools usually have lower fees than regular dentists, look there for care.

Yeah, those dental schools do offer cheaper services. But, like others have said, their work is not guaranteed.

Shop around. That's your best bet. There are certain offices where you're not only paying for the dental services themselves, but the cost of their rent, and all their amenities. The smaller offices will almost always have cheaper prices.

Also, ask around. It's usually who you know. Maybe a friend of a friend is a dentist and he'll give you a discount.

For me, there are certain things I don't want to bargain hunt for. One is a surgeon. The other is a dentist. Those are 2 things I'm willing to pay more for even if I don't have a ton of money because it's my health. And, I really like my teeth and want them around forever. It may cost a lot, but look at it like an investment in yourself. Those thousand of dollars may pay off and you'll have a nice smile.

If you're anywhere near Mexico, go there. I've had Mexican dentists for years with excellent and amazingly inexpensive results - you will pay less than what U.S. dental "insurance" demands as a co-payment in most cases.

I'm convinced that dentists in the U.S. (among other professional groups) have created an artificial shortage by limiting admissions to schools, thereby driving up prices. In Tijuana alone there must be at least 1,000 dentists!

Or you can do what other Americans have done, and that is to go to an Eastern European country for a "medical vacation." The whole trip costs them less than what they would pay to a local dental extortionist here.

Yes, dental school has very low cost or completely free work done on you're teeth.

Although, remember it IS a school so everything is not guaranteed.
