Just another holiday with a whole lot of commercial hoopla. If that's what turns people on then go for it.

I also love the cookies but hate eggnog.

According to Fox News, or in reality?

The reality is that we enjoy the wonderful family holiday, and the warm memories we have of Christmases from our childhoods. We're perfectly fine referring to it as "Christmas", and we like hearing and even singing Christmas carols - yes, even some of the religious ones (though not the schlocky nonsense ones).

According to religious right dogma, on the other hand, we spend the entire time between Thanksgiving and New Years burning in anger at the fact that we feel offended that someone mentioned "Christ" or said "Christmas" instead of "Xmas" or "Happy Holidays". Apparently we think that the United States should employ the military as a Political Correctness Police Force and use it to destroy any references to "Christmas" and imprison anyone caught worshipping a god.

I rather enjoy sitting around a dead tree eating candy out of my socks that was delivered by a jolly elf with flying reindeer and a sled.

I love it. Even the distinctly Christian elements. I even have a nativity scene -- it reminds me of childhood Christmases. It's always been my favorite holiday.

I don't care for it. It's nothing more than a commercialized holiday.
