First my cat stopped using the litter box for number 2. I was told I was not cleaning his litter box very well. Then he used it evey now and then. I recently bought a new litter box and he is not doing number 1 either. I do not know what to do. I recently had a baby. Does this event have to do with his behaviour?

Make a wheel chair like litter box and tie your cat with it

Having a new baby, or any other change, in the house, can cause cat's to have stress. If you're not paying as much attention to him as you did before, and I can understand that, then he's probably trying to get your attention the only way he knows how. There's an old saying, that applies to animals, as well as children......."even bad attention is better than no attention at all". If you've changed his brand of litter, food, water, or any of those things, he could be reacting to that. Or, if having the new baby, you're not cleaning his litter as OFTEN as he'd like, he'll react to that, too! If he's "going" in one "particular" place, clean it really well (vinegar works pretty good), then place something like a mat over the spot and FEED him there. He won't "go" where he eats! Then put his CLEAN litter pan nearby, and when he starts using it,again, move it gradually back where you want it. Good luck, and Congratulations on the new baby!

yup - baby is probably causing him stress - especially if he was your baby before that. But - have him checked to see if he has a UTI - stress can bring on urinary tract infections for cats. But also, if you've changed cat litters recently, change it back to whatever you were using before and be sure to keep it really clean. If you still have the old litterbox, change back to that one (or use both). You might, too, need an additional litterbox. some cats are super picky about their litterboxes - and between the stress of the baby and the stress of a new litterbox - might have just sent him over the edge. but, for sure get him checked, just to make sure he's not sick.

1. It may not smell bad to you, but a cat's sense of smell is way better than a human's. Some cats insist on a very clean box.

2. Your cat may be sick. It he's experiencing pain while tendinging to his toilet, he may associate the pain with using the box.

3. A major change in his house that displeases him could cause the problem, too.

Sometimes cats get VERY jealous. If you have a new baby that could be why. There are some sprays to stop cats for going to the bathroom in certain places, if he is going in a certain place spray it! Also, sometimes they take some time to get used to change. Try and give them some extra attention!

a baby might make the cat behaive differently but im not sure. you could try a different brand of cat litter. if the cat is going on the floor somewhere but always that one spot you could try to move the box to that spot. and deffinately keep it clean they can be picky

it could.

have you recently switched litter? Or added a cat to the household?

If no, get clumping litter & scoop twice per day.

This may be a sign that he needs to go to the vet for a urine test. There may be an infection. You may not see blood. As for the poop, it sounds behavioral unless he has blood in his stool.

You didn't mention where your cat IS going number 2. Is he going on the floor? Where? It could be something medical. You might want to get him checked out by a vet to be sure.

well it depends on where he is going. in my case it was in bedrooms so we strted keeping him out of rooms so the only place he could go was outside or in the litterbox.
