Sodom was invaded and looted (Gen 14). Lot, his family and most of the Sodomites were taken as slaves, but their King Bera managed to escape. Abraham is told about it. He arms his slaves and goes on hot pursue of the invaders for about 200 miles. They defeat them. Abraham recovers all the loot. Also, he liberates Lot and his family, and all the Sodomites! The liberated Sodomites must have danced naked before Abraham in celebration of joy all the way home like when King David brought the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem! Abraham became the national hero in the Kingdom of Sodom!
When Abraham and all the rescued Sodomites were safely returning home they were greeted by King Bera of Sodom and King Melchizedek* (*Christian theologians claim that he was Jesus in one of his epiphanies- Heb 7:1-3). King Melchizedek brought out bread and wine to celebrate Abraham's genuine "mission accomplished" feat! Bera and Melchizedek were bosom buddies!

After Abram returned from defeating Kedorlaomer and the kings allied with him, the king of Sodom came out to meet him in the Valley of Shaveh… Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine* (*type of Holy Communion). He was priest of God Most High,
In the course of this celebration God makes Abraham to take a solemn oath that he is not going to accept any money from King Bera for rescuing the Sodomites! The Sodomites are highly honored before the Bible God! Abraham already got a big fortune from the MIGHTY King of Egypt and later on from the King of Gerar when these kings picked up Abraham’s old sister/wife Sarah for sex, but Abraham was not to accept a penny from the King of Sodom! Shortly after this episode God Almighty needs to personally come down to Earth to investigate what is going on in Sodom! (Gen 18:20-21) And Sodom is destroyed! Only the incestuous Lot is saved!
Christians refuse to discuss this whole episode. Is it another glitch with God?

The really weird thing is that the Sodomites supposedly decided to attack Lot after seeing that Abraham was more powerful than the people that beat the Sodomites. They would have to have been dumb as rocks to do that. It kind of makes that whole section of the bible seem rather unbelievable.
It reminds me of the part where the Israelites supposedly started worshiping an idol right after seeing Jehovah part the Red Sea. It simply makes no sense that those people would have done that.
Of course, made up stories don't really have to have the people in them do sane or sensible things.

We talk about stuff like this all the time, you must not have been there for the thread. Other "odd" discussions include the stupidity of Samson, talking asses, Lot's drunken sex parties with his own daughters, "King" Absolom, King David's punishment for adultery and murder, and the sacrifice of a general's only child (to pay for a battle victory).
There are lots and lots and LOTS of strange stories in the Old Testament. The sad thing is, not much other than technology has changed since 2,000 BC. People still treat each other like crap!
BTW, Melchizedek was not one of Jesus' "epiphanies". He was just a pagan king and high priest in ancient Jebus (now Jerusalem). He is used as a metaphor to describe Christ, that's it.
As far as Abraham and the Sodomites are concerned, nobody celebrates the victory, because nobody cares. That battle took place about 4,000 years ago, and the entire area was later completely destroyed in what sounds like a volcanic eruption. What would be the point?

Your interpretation of the Bible is way off! Abraham did not go to fight for the Sodomites, he went and fought for his Family! The reason that Abraham refused money from that King was because that King was evil and did not want anything to do with him and his evil gotten money. Also the Sodomites were probably to scared of Abraham, they were more likely to follow in shame and quietness like a dog with his tail between their legs. As far as the Kings being Friends, there is absolutely no mention of this. If they were, why did they greet Abraham separately. King Melchizedek was NOT from Sodom, he was from Salem which is another name for Jerusalem.
The Bible is very clear and repeats often that God hates Homosexuality and that He judges all those who partake in it. That is why Homosexual's life spans are over 20 years shorter than the norm, which is over three times higher than smoking cigarettes.

Because no Christains are descended from Sodomites. The Sodomites were exterminated by God when they celebrated their freedom with sinful debauchery. Losers aren't celebrated, which is why we don't have a feast of Saint Judas

he came out to tell abraham he was blessed of God and possessor of heaven and earth......
AND ABRAHAM would not pertake of ANYTHING from the sodomites king...except what they had eaten and drank......less they would say THEY made Abraham rich by thier own hand...........

i think its quite clear anything from sodom is a no no...
he went to save Lot....not sodom...
its doesn't say melchizedek came to the celebration
WITH bera....
and since God eventaully destroyed sodom and gomorah by his own hand it should tell you what he thought of those places....
