im not trying to start a religious argument, but i need to ask your opinion. first, if you are a christian i ask that you put your beliefs aside for just one second, evolutioionists i ask the same from you. please read my list and tell me which SOUNDS most appealing to you. (not which one you believe!!!)

creation-
*man was made in the image of god.
*man is a lost sinner
*each oerson has great value in the sight of god
* man has an eternal soul that will live forever somewhere

evolution-
*man was made in the image of beasts
*man in the pinnacle of evolutionary perfection
* man is the master of his destiny, not god
* the individual is of little value.

again, i please ask that everyone put their beliefs aside and just focus on the list and tell me which one sounds better to you

"evolution-
*man was made in the image of beasts
*man in the pinnacle of evolutionary perfection
* man is the master of his destiny, not god
* the individual is of little value."

Is that supposed to have something to do with evolution?

I think you needed to put aside your beliefs before you wrote the question. You missed badly on this.

"No_good_name_left" hit the nail on the head with his comments above. Evolution is the fact of the matter. Creationists' inability to deal with the facts have led them to quite a bit of silly, rude, and outright dangerous behavior. The problem here is not evolution versus creationism - the problem is figuring out how to teach creationists how to behave themselves properly.

OK, the real issues between the two.

First with Creation - God the creator does not explain itself.
Who created God in the first place? Did he create himself?
Or did he just pop out of thin air, like the Creation theory?
Nothing about the creation theory makes sense or adds up. There is no proof or evidence for any of it. The Bible is not proof in itself because it is a heavily edited book/text that has changed over the centuries.

With evolution - we don't have complete fossile records, etc etc to show all the links in evolution - and neither do we have them going all back to the "cosmic soup" times...

There is another theory called 'the creation' in which it is not an entity but a process that creates all life - call it the life force, or life creativity, etc etc.

I'm going to critique these.

creation-
*man was made in the image of god.
And I care why?

*man is a lost sinner
Horrible thought, I like having self-esteem.

*each person has great value in the sight of god
I don't know god and thus don't care what he thinks.

* man has an eternal soul that will live forever somewhere
Eternal life would suck. Glad I'm not immortal.

evolution-
*man was made in the image of beasts
Not true. Humans are animals, but not made.

*man in the pinnacle of evolutionary perfection
No, all living things today are evolved to the same level. Evolutionary theory never says this.

* man is the master of his destiny, not god
Why should a god control MY destiny?

* the individual is of little value.
Where does evolutionary theory say this?

Neither sounds good, and your evolution section is all wrong.

Your comparison is extremely biased and not a fair description of either.

Maybe we should try and come up with more accurate models to compare the two systems

Creationism
1. System authored out of fear.
2. we are inherently sinners. We inherit the sins of our fathers.
3. Arrogantly views humans as special and apart from the rest of creation. Only human beings can have a life after death. Life on this plane does not have as much value as an envisioned reward in an afterlife.

Evolution.
1. Derived from observation and scientific reasoning.
2. Born with a moral clean slate. We are not responsible for the sins of our ancestors.
3. Views mankind as a part of all natural living things, and subject to the same processes and physical laws. Our life today has extreme value for it is the only opportunity we have for contributing to the betterment of our world.

man is not made in the image of beasts, man isn't made at all, man is just an evolution of previous 'beasts' as are every other animal that exists on the earth at this present moment. man is not the pinnacle of evolutionary perfection, far from it, as far as we know we are the only species that can use our brains the way we do, but if we didn't have that we'd be a pretty useless animal. every animal is the master of it's own destiny, all animals can choose to do whatever they feel that they want to do. no individual animal on this earth has any more right to be here than any other animal, all that matters is how smart one animal is over another, predator is smarter than prey.
so both of your summaries is wrong.

Well as they are written, that gives Creation 3 positives and 1 negative vs Evolution 2 positives and 2 negatives.

But I think the evolution list is really dubious: "the individual is of little value" - what the heck is that? "man is the pinnacle of evolutionary perfection" - that's a crock of poo. Sorry but you are misquoting them. Imo, the pinnacle of evolutionary perfection, would be e.g. a telepath, that didn't die or age.

The evidence for evolution is and has been interpreted from a Philosophical and ideological Bias, The answers given by adherents to Evolution here in R&S is proof of the bias and agenda, Atheism has to have an alternate explanation—other than a Creator—for how the universe and life came into existence.
Darwin once identified himself as a Christian but as a result of some tragedies that took place in his life, he later renounced the Christian faith and the existence of God. Evolution was invented by an atheist.
What is sad is that Christians are falling into this Trap and trying to fit evolution into the Bible (Theistic Evolution) thinking they can make it fit.
Lee Stroble in his video listed below “ The Case for the Creator” stated (5 min. 28 sec into the video) The Case for a Creator
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajqH4y8G0MI

That “There is no way you can Harmonize Neo Darwinism with Christianity, I could never understand Christians who would say “ Well I believe in God yet I believe in Evolution as well” You see Darwin’s idea about the development of life led to his theory that modern science now generally defines as an undirected process completely devoid of any purpose or plan,”. Now how could God direct an undirected process? How could God have purpose in a plan behind a system that has no plan and no purpose? It just does not make sense.
It didn’t make sense to me in 1966 and it doesn’t make sense to me now.
The Apostle Paul wrote to His Son Timothy stating that “ in 2 Timothy 4:3-4 “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, [because] they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn [their] ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.”

Those Christians who believe in evolution have no idea how that effects their theology.

Well, according to your list, creation seems better. But I must point out that nothing in your list of evolution is correct. None of those statements comes close to describing what evolution is, or what it says.

Could we make this a new drinking question, because milk just came out my nose when I read this.

Evolution sounds better to me

I don't like the idea that a supernatural being has some preordained master plan for me. I like the idea of my life being my own and I don't have to dictate my actions to anyone. I don't like having to worry about whether or not I'm living a "good enough" life to go to some mystical utopian heaven when I die. I don't like the idiotic idea that my life is simply an audition for my afterlife.

EDIT: Wow Sk8 is the epitome of creationist ignorance. She and that John in AZ ought to hook up or something

Many real Christians believe in Evolution. Look at Omega Point Theory, created by Jesuit Priest Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, which is pretty common and accepted philosophy in the Roman Catholic Chruch.
