they are saying that without religions thousands of years ago , many more people would be killed and tortured, people would be stealing too much and be very violent. people needed some fictional good night stories, so they didnt kill and rape and steal and cheat on their partners??????????? so it is true that religious people hide how evil they are, except few cant hide their temptations like father O'Grady.

That seems to be the case. They actually say that without religion, or if god did not create us for a divine purpose, that life has no morality and no meaning. It's the saddest, most ridiculous, and scariest thing I've ever heard. Just think what will happen if these morons grow a brain.

Oh nonsense! The history of religion is full of war, murders rapes and all kinds of mayhem , all in the name of 'God'. The Old Testament is full of violence and at times revels in it, the Crusade are renowned for rape, plunder and bloodshed - even against fellow Christians when they attacked Byzantium. Even today, the Catholic Church works hard to cover up and deny the widespread practice of child abuse by priests, a well orchestrated campaign which was headed by Cardinal Ratzinger before he became Pope. Well documented in programs shown on Canadian and British TV but I don't knorw if they were shown in the US, though the Boston diocesan scandal got a lot of air time. TV evangelists have been caught out with 'moral' problems ...........the list goes on .

Even with religion people do all of those things. They just like to act like they don't do anything wrong and in their heads justify what they have done wrong by saying that it is forgiven because they were baptized or got "saved" or some other reason.
Religion also makes people feel they will be rewarded for what they have done good in this life, in the afterlife. Simply just being a decent human being is not good enough for some people to want to do good.

No, you need good morals. However, most morals are taught. This is the purpose of religion. Children don't know right from wrong, they learn it. That is why a child will take a piece of candy from a shelf at the store before they are taught it is stealing unless they pay for it. Religion also gives us all a common ground to stand upon, which in turn makes life more peaceful. To bad some people don't understand the true purpose of it. ;-)

I have morals with or without religion.

I will never understand why some of you think we are horrible people who only "keep ourselves under control" because we fear God.

You say that you are so good, so pure, so kind, so loving, etc. Well, we are, too. We just believe in Christ.

People needed fear to make them be more humane. People are animals, we naturally fight, steal and kill just like every other animal. We just happen to be smarter. We find these things to be immoral when it is merely acts of survival. That and we don't kill, fight or steal for the same reason another animal would
