if you are refering to emergency medical tech.. then basically it is someone who works on an ambulance saving other peoples lives.. it is a very rewarding and exciting career.... i love almost every minute of it!!!

As everyone's said, it stands for Emergency Medical Technician. The material varies by state, but an EMT is typically trained in emergency treatment of illness and injury, patient care and transport, childbirth, and basic medical procedure. EMT-Basic is the entry-level certification, and with more education one can reach EMT-Intermediate and eventually EMT-Paramedic. Any ambulance that responds to medical emergencies will have one or more personnel with one of these certifications.
