When did it start?

Anyways for
shedding- This sounds crazy, but some people rub garlic on their hair. Yeah, weird
dry- moisturize it, see below
itchy- apple cider vinegar!! Trust me, i've done it myself! Put 1/4 cup apple cider vinega and 4 cups water in a spray bottle(not one used for cleaning!!) and spray directly on scalp! Put a showercap over it, leave on for 10 minutes. Put the rest of the mixture on your hair. It will be really shiny and soft

First of all, keep your hair moisturized. This is as simple as wetting it in the shower, or wetting your hands and running them through your hair. DO NOT buy any moisturizer that has MINERAL OIL or PETROLATUM! care free curl gold and s-curl are popular moisturizers. Do NOT use that Pink lotion!
2)use a wide tooth comb(SPARINGLY!!!) to avoid hairs breaking.
3)Wash your hair AT LEAST!!!!! once a week with shampoo. I wash mine with JUST conditioner sometimes too.
4)after shampooing, DEEP CONDITION by putting condish on your hair and putting a plastic cap over it and leaving it on for 15-30 minutes
5)massage your scalp daily
6)do not put any oils or "grease" on your scalp. Same goes with hair.
7)Try to relax your hair less. Every 8-10 weeks or longer!
8)You know your hair is breaking because if you look on the ends you will not see a white bulb. If you DO see a withe thing on the end, that is just shed hair. You shed 100 hairs a day, so it's all good. If it IS broken hair, do a protein treatment (use Organic Roots Stimulator mayonaisse or Aphogee 2 minute)
9)Try to put your hair up. Or protect your hair by leaving it in braids. DO NOT LEAVE BRAIDS IN TOO LONG or you will loose your hairline!
10)Do not limit your hair care products to the "ethnic" section of walmart. A lot of that stuff is crap *cough* Motions *cough*

You said your hair grew over the summer, so im assuming its fall or straight to winter where you live. It could just be season change. Even though my hair is really thick and kinda long i notice a lot shedding in the fall and my hair becomes weaker around winter. If you keep deep conditioning your hair once a week, oiling your scalp, and moisturizing your hair strands it should get better. Although you will still see some shedding, it should reduce. Its just the season change. You'll also notice your hair grows slower in the fall and winter because the hair follicile tends to retract.
You might want to add a little olive oil to your conditioner, for extra moisture and tea tree oil to combat the itchy scalp.

Use a good deep conditioner like Lekairs' cholesterol. Wash once a week, or if too damaged, every week and a half. Use a good grease on your scalp and hair shaft. Try to go for a light grease like Castor oil's extra extra light mineral oil grease. It won't clog you down.

during the winter african american hair tends to get really and gets wind damaged if you live in a cooler climate try getting a hot oil treatment make sure you cover you hair at night with a silk scarf (silk doesn't absorb oil as quickly as cotton) don't over wash and try not to use a lot of heat on it. wrapping might be a good thing to do. and if you've switched hair products recently maybe they also have something to do with it

I'm black.....it's probably the weather that's affecting your hair... depending on where you're located. Moisturize, Moisturize! You may also be allergic to something if you're using something new...a different relaxer, hair sheen, or something. My hair does the same thing in the winter. I moisturize, drink plenty of water, and take vitamins. Good Luck!

the relaxer has more than likely dried out ur scalp and is causing your hair to break. u need a serious deep conditioner but 1 home remedy is to mix mayo and egg whites and put it in your hair and leave it in for 30 minutes the wash it and condition it with name brand conditioner.....good luck

It's dry, that's why it's breaking and you need to have your hair deep conditioned and keep your hair moisturized. If you're going to do it. . . mayonnaise is a great home conditioner.

Get it checked by a doctor or just wash it.
