Only the Army will take a GED. The AF, Marines, CG, and Navy all require a HS diploma or a GED with 15 credit hours. However just because you have a GED with 15 credit hours doesn't mean you automaically get in. They will always take a diploma holder over a GED holder any day of the week. The AF, Marines, CG, and Navy enlistees with GED's and college credit account for less han 3% of all enlistees for those branches of service.

This standard changes as the need for manpower does. I did read where the Army is now taking recruits with only a GED again. I believe they are the only ones that will at this time but it never hurts to ask so check with the other service recruiters also. I believe they will take you with a GED if you also have two years of college.

Yes, It will limit your choice and eligibility for certain MOS. I'm pretty sure the Air Force takes a GED however, They have quite the waiting list. And are more likely to take someone with a diploma.

I was stationed with a guy that didn't even have a ged. He had a ged waiver. He said that they gave him the waiver with the agreement that he would work towards it during his time in.

the Army currently takes the most GED holders. AF, CG do not take any period, and Marines/Navy only take a few each year.

It is possible, although the likelihood varies depending upon the services success in meeting their enlistment requirements.
