I just found out that I am to start getting VA disabilty and was wondering how much a month that would be? I was rated at 20% as an E4 (Army) with 4 yrs service.
I know the answer is in the packet that was sent to me but I am out of town and wont be home for a while, and I'm really curious!
Thanks!

Here is a link to the VA chart for Disability payments.
It will be changing soon, on 1 Jan. The new rates are not yet available.

I agree with William B, go to either DAV or VFW and ask for help. They will help with the application for getting your disability reevaluated.
The VA usually rates you low, but if you argue it they jack it up more although the increase may take a while, you'll still receive what you're getting now. DAV/VFW know the process. The va website is www.va.gov
Can I ask what your 20% was for? Reason I'm asking is, there are lots of people here who have dealt with the va and may be able to help you even more quickly than DAV or VFW.
There used to also be a site called www.hadit.com which was a GREAT site for help dealing with the VA bureaucracy. Good luck with it all.

You will get $225 a month with no dependents. After a Cost of living raise Jan 1, 2008 it will go up a few dollars. I would also go to the VA and see about increasing your disability. Talk to the DAV or the VFW, they help for free.

Not as easy to compute as you might think.....20% does not translate to say 20% of your pay

What will happen is your retired pay will be reduced by a computed amount......then the VA will send you a check for that same amount...... the savings comes when you file taxes.....you do not pay tax on your VA money

You will receive 20% of the monthly basic pay you were receiving while in the service. This amount is not taxed, so there is no withholding on it.
