What are the best ways to combat, crush and destroy the various forms of intellectual cancer, the dogmas that enslave the mind of men and women, the institutionalized forces that oppose rationality. Yes, "cancer", you know what it is. Their kind may not be wiped out easily, but what are you doing that will ensure that your own will eventually dominate civilization and rule the inferiors from the top?

Will you lower the level of irrationality in society by tolerating it? Will dogma-holders return the favor if you leave them alone? Will extremists stop attacking you when they do not realize that their thinking is founded on delusion? Such moderate, naive responses.

Muslim protesters are demanding that a British teacher in Sudan be executed for calling a teddy bear "Muhammad". If you're a moderate atheist who tolerates dogma, why should you care what happens to people like her? No, I do not speak for anyone but myself, but here's something by Richard Dawkins: "Many of us saw religion as harmless nonsense. Beliefs might lack all supporting evidence but, we thought, if people needed a crutch for consolation, where's the harm? September 11th changed all that. Revealed faith is not harmless nonsense, it can be lethally dangerous nonsense. Dangerous because it gives people unshakeable confidence in their own righteousness. ...gives them false courage to kill themselves, which automatically removes normal barriers to killing others. ...teaches enmity to others labelled only by a difference of inherited tradition. ...we have all bought into a weird respect, which uniquely protects religion from normal criticism. Let's now stop being so damned respectful"

I'm cracking sarcstics at them, chipping away bit by bit. Eventually it'll defeat thousands of years of religious indoctrination and institutionalization.

I'm doing nothing to combat, crush and destroy anything. There are people who find comfort and a sense of purpose in religion, and it would be very inconsiderate and arrogant of me to try to deprive them of that.

Why not read "Why We Believe What We Believe" and "Why God Won't Go Away" by Andrew Newberg, and you might develop a more open mind about these things.

Me? I'm actively doing nothing unless provoked. I think that the first step towards our "intellectual revolution" should be for people to accept as us perfectly sane, moral, rational people who, though we disagree with God, agree very much with morality. For them to listen and take us seriously first necessitates that they do not see us as freaks or terrorists.

Atheists don;t have a cause. What annoys religious types is our refusal to organize , to have a dogma. we simply refuse to believe the rubbish that you believe. Simple.

I have no 'cause', people may choose their own beliefs but I will fight to keep theology out of government. I am not out to convert people - that is a theologists game not mine.

Nothing, but that doesn't mean I support it, I'm against cancer and all that. If I get an oppurtunity to help someone, I do it. What else?
