IF You're using the 5 wire COMPONENT cables to get your signal from the box to your TV set, I have seen the BLUE component line get loose and cause your picture to be only green and pink.....

You need to make sure all three video lines are fully seated on BOTH ENDS of that component cable.....Don't just look at them....PRESS them until they stop....

You should have your normal picture back.....

Sounds like it could be the cable box. I had one of the original HD boxes from Time Warner and it only output the HD channels on the component video cables. For standard channels, I had to use either the video out jack or the coaxial cable. That meant I would have to change the input selector on the TV depending on whether I was watching an HD program or a standard program.

Later, they came out with a new box that output both the HD and standard channels via the component video cables. So, there is apparently a conversion circuit in the cable box that converts the standard channels to component video. And, that circuit might be bad on your cable box.

Call up the cable company and ask a service rep if they have ever heard of this problem. You might also have to pick up another box and swap them out just to find out.

It sounds like you have a component cable loose or hooked up wrong. Sounds like the blue one to me. Call your service provider and have them make sure its not the HD Box.
If you have Comcast make sure you dont have both HDMI and Component cables hooked up as it will interfere and cause similar things to which you are describing. Also the box might not be in HD mode (I know you said the HD works) but you might have to turn the power off on the box, hit guide and info at the same time till a screen comes on that says HD mode. once it does follow the directions on the screen.
