Tasers are much more humaine than any of the previous generation submission tools the police have. I am sick of hearing people talk about weather or not the police should or should not have done this or that with the damn tasers

I am in the US Marines (security forces), and we don't have tasers, when a civilian that fusses with us gets out of line, we pull our ASP and start breaking bones........I would be happy getting jolted with electricity knowing the alternative.

would there have been a public outcry if Rodney king was subdued with a taser and not the beating he took (although he deserved it)

Unfortunately you're fighting an uphill battle on this subject.

Too much hype and anecdotal "Evidence" from media sources that Tasers are lethal. Despite the hundreds of thousands of Police Officers that have been shot with Tasers in training and not one of them has died if all too often ignored.

Most people can't grasp the concept that there is a difference between "Volts" and "Amps". Or that the Taser effect is the application of the same Milli-amps that the human body uses to control muscle movement. What a Taser does is create and "Override" on a person's muscle control and makes the subjects muscles contract. That's why you see people that have been tased fall over like a board.

Whoever said they'd rather see batons used is a fool. And the clown that was "asking a question" (Ranting in public is closer to the truth) tried to set up the Campus P.D. for a "Brutality" incident failed miserably.

It's been shown time and time again that those that have died after a Taser incident died because of drugs in their system(Excited Delirium) or over exertion causing a heart attack from struggling with Officers.

It's precisely that a taser does not break bones or leave bruises like a baton that police are more likely to use a taser when its not appropriate.

BTW Rodney King WAS tasered.

I think all the fuss is not the use of them, but because people are dying from them. I'm not at all defending people who are tasered because if they were following the law, then they wouldn't be tasered in the first place, but what people are being tasered for shouldn't be resulting in death.

You go Devildog. Trust me stay in. I got out after five years. Now I feel like I am a babysitter. And the kids don't ever listen. I love the Taser. It gives me an extra 21 feet on foot chases. Its like Spiderman! DON'T RUN. It helps subdue fighters when we are on the ground (with drive stuns) It also saves my hands. I have broke my hands from pulling people out of cars and from rolling around trying to get them cuffed. Now I just drive stun them. DON'T FIGHT. It is so simple these people do not understand...

Whatever happened to a good ol' fashioned passionate azzwhippin ?

Nowaday's it seems the easy thing to do is shoot people with 50k volts.....when it would have been more appropriate to just get old school...do the chickenwing pinch and shove the little 16 yr old punks face in the dirt.

Obvious the taser is necessary in alot of cases ....but it seems it's being used out of convenience more and more.

btw- getting hit with a baton, doesn't typically stop your heart instantly.... so yes the baton is preferrable to me.

It's not the tasers people have problem with.

It's when police use them against somebody asking John Kerry a question.

It's things like that. Don't use them unless it's to replace lethal force.

how humane the taser depends on the cop using it. we recently had a police officer taser a girl who was half his size, and three times above legal limit for resisting arrest. he tazed her a total of 27 times, leaving burn holes clothes in her clothes. this was while she was cuffed. he also tazed her inside her inside the cruiser. so, how humane are tazers?

I'm with you!
Do away with them, what is the alternative? If people do not want to be shot by law enforcement..>DON'T Deserve it!

I completely agree. If these people didn't act like maniacs they wouldn't tased or beaten up. They get what they deserve.
