The previous answer is great. I'll tell you about PS3 "worlds". You're probably talking about Home project, where you'll build your own avatar, your own apartment, travel virtual world, etc. This project is coming out next spring. Beta version will be available sooner, check www.homebetatrial.com

For starters, make sure you have a secured and functioning internet connection. Then, you need to buy any game that if you research on, has online gameplay or scoreboards. A helpful tip is to remember that the Playstation Network only works if you have the latest update for your system. Only because if you try going online, you'll get a message saying that you need an update on the game system in order to continue. After that, you should be able to start your free online gaming. As for playstation worlds, i honestly nvr heard of it....
