Shouldn't the sole fact that there are multiple religions in existence, all claiming their mascot to be the one true God, be enough to make any rational person skeptical?

Wouldn't the first religion have to be the true one, if any?

Will FSM be widely worshipped in a 1000 years?

@Overseer, At one point, religion taught that the earth was the center of the galaxy. By claiming God, you are trying to find an easy way out. It took time to make scientific progress to know what we know today. Perhaps someday we'll know even more....

Religion is a man made institution. There have been many, there will be more. Doesn't matter the order. Adam and Eve had a personal relationship with God (the one, the only) and they messed up, resulting in nobody having a relationship with God - so men started making up religions, to try to be "good enough". We can't be "good enough". God sent His Son to fix a way for us to re establish that original relationship with Him. We all have the opportunity to receive it. Do it.

Turn it around: how can there be more than one true God?

The proliferation of religions indicates to me that people generally NEED to worship, that they are spiritually / psychologically geared toward it and are incomplete without it.

That said, the capacity for people to twist almost anything, or to invent gods who make them feel comfortable or superior is just about limitless. FSM is probably a good example.

Trillions upon trillion of stars (suns) billions of galaxies, 100 millions light years just to cross one galaxy. The total vastness of the universe with black holes, quasars, and all sorts of astronomical anomalies broken down to basic elements like hydrogen and helium. Such complexities and mysteries had to have had an origin - GOD. Before the creation of the universe and before our understanding of God he could be the only rational explanation for everything.
