Yes you can. Your state as mine has a trapping season. You must abide by this season and have a valid trapping permit. Transporting the animal without this is illegal. Your animal must first be prepared for sale. If not, the buyer will buy ones that are prepared. The price is set by furriers that set the value based on the demand for the pelt and the strength of supply. Your state conservation dept. could tell you names of these companies. Go for it! Paul

Yes you can.

But there is a difference between an animal that was hit and one that was run over. One that is hit is usually a good pelt. One run over is full of gravel holes and tire treads.

It also helps if its a pelt that is wanted when its not run over. So a fox or a mink would be good but I dont think anyone is buying oppossum skins.

You might also want to find out how much he can get for one after he guts, skins, scrapes, and sun dried the hide. He might not think that $1.50 is worth it.

Heehee. The secret of not disagreeing with your spouse is to agree. Then pad it with so many IF and BUT that it becomes not worth the effort.

Depends on where you are and what the pelt is and what kind of shape it is in.

Your likely not to get anything for a possum thats been run over six times. However a fox or beaver where the pelt is still in good shape is probably worth a few bucks

First of all- EWWWW

Depending upon how long the animal has been there, it could be dangerous for his health to handle the carcase.

In addition to that- I would guess that most pelts get damaged in the death causing injury.

And once the animal bloats, ewww- who wants to remove the pelt, and smell all the putrid stankyness!

BUT- the beverlyhillbillies did it.

you probably can, but i wouldn't eat the meat. He might also have to report the kills and get a tag from the DNR in order to claim the pelt. Otherwise they will think he's poaching.

I sell them on eBay all the time. The money is great and most of the animals are still good eatin'!!

Even my bank, Bank of Amigos, allows me to deposit pelts via branch ATMs.

i don't see why not. you'd just have to find a willing buyer. but i can't imagine there's a big market for squirrel, cat, or possum pelts.
