In La Mirada and surrounding areas there is a lot of "small" floral shops and party supply stores that also rent halls. Mostly the hispanic ones. Also if your church has a weekly bulletin, look at the advertisements on the back, there is usually halls listed there.

I know what you mean, I have the same issue when it comes to home renovation shows which I like to watch also - Grand Designs, Love the home your in, Property Ladder (has Sarah Beany has falling off the side of the word?) etc. They have a budget of say 40k-50k to get an extension to their home which they say they have saved up got a loan bla bla bla to pay for it. All fine and dandy I can go along with that. Its when a few months into the build, they find a problem or come up with a better design or want a better kitchen or whatever and somehow they find another 20-30k out of no where!? Even though they were already at their limit! Is there a pot of gold somewhere only property developers know about when they need to find that extra 1000's of pound to finish off a home that we don't know about? Anyway sorry I digress. I think you right it might be a bit boring if Kirsty and Phil only had 125k to find a country retreat for someone when they end up in a mid terrace the bathroom/kitchen need to be done and it overlooks a factory. - Of course a big exaggeration there but you get the idea instead of these homes they show you were you think to yourself are they living inside a postcard? Houses like that don't exist in the real world! But generally yes I agree they need to update it for the Mr and Mrs smith who can afford 150k at the most and their desirables is a garden shed and a downstairs loo not a swimming pool and granny annex :).

Look for a park. Beautiful time of year! If you want something inside look for community centers. Good luck.

If you're lookin to do it locally - try your American Legion, VFW, FOP or KC halls - they are usually very nice and geared for parties - usually having kitchens available - tables, chairs, etc. are usually there, also.

If you can give your location we might be more helpful.
I found a couple museums that will allow us to bring our own.
