Coming from Amsterdam, probably one of the most secular cities in the world, two things struck me when I ended up on R&S and discovered 'American style ' Atheism'
This is all about attitudes, and probably a cultural divide.

Many even though they claim to have no belief whatsoever in any imaginary deity somehow manage to answer with such vitriolic bitterness that it somehow seems like they carry a personal grudge towards this non-existent being. I think that's hilarious !.

The other thing I notice is that they sometimes defend their
position with such fervour, zeal and rigidity that they have actually taken over many of the attributes and dispicable tactics of the religious nutters they are arguing against,
giving in to cheap sophistry. I think that's sad !.

While gross grammatical errors and misspellings, or excessive chat shorthand, are terribly annoying ~ random mistakes in spelling and grammar (which could easily be typos) I think are picked on a tad too much. I myself have personally misspelled atheist as athiest, for example, due to fast typing. Constantly picking on these small things I think makes some look just a petty as those they are picking on.

But hey, nobody is perfect. Or are we.......?

I personally don't like the amputation argument. I think that, if we discovered a human with the ability to regrow a limb, we would probably say it's the result of a very beneficial set of genetic mutations rather than a personal God.

I just wish atheists were generally more considerate. I love most of the atheists on here, but generally most of you are a little edgier than I am regarding what you'll say to a believer. I just don't want to offend anyone.

Lev, we get a real pic? :o)

I hate when atheists are intolerant, it drops them to the level of intolerant Christians.
Truth may not be persuasive, but it’s persistent. Someone smart said something like that.

I wish they'd stop confusing they're, their and there, and you're and your. Admittedly, it's very few atheists who do this, especially in comparison to a certain group of theists *cough*, but it makes me cringe anyway.

What's up with putting your real pic up? What did I miss? Do I have to put mine up?

I'm a little tired of seeing the numerous analogies to the situation with ID wanting to be taught alongside Evolution in public schools. Granted, it was clever and funny the first time, but it got really old, really quick.

(I.e., "Intelligent Shapes" being taught instead of Geometry; "Intelligent Theorems" being taught instead of Calculus; "Intelligent Concoctions" instead of Chemistry; and so on and so forth)

It's over :/

That we need to "save" these young Christians from their delusions. It really annoys me when atheists think they are better then theists. An arrogant bastard is an arrogant bastard no matter what label they put on themselves.

Is it weird that I like my avatar? lol

Sometimes I wish they weren't so flippant. But who am I to tell them what to do???

I'm also really tired of Flying Spaghetti Monster stuff. I think it makes us sound kind of dumb (yes I do understand why we use it but why did it have to be so annoying and dorky?).
