Heck, sometimes there isn't even any paint in the can, but that doesn't stop some people.

You know what they say about people who only have a hammer, and how they look at everything as a nail.

Similar problem when all you have is a big paint brush. You can never paint all the fine details, and so you just swash out the whole wall in monochrome. Then you say, I don't like any of those nuances of color.

Cheers,
Bruce

I'd say, "because they are lazy". It is a lot easier and faster to work with a wide brush...even if it makes a much bigger mess, it still gets the paint on the wall. Using a narrow brush takes more time and skill but it yields a much more detailed and accurate result.

Are you sure this is the right forum for this question? Is R&S really the place to ask questions like this?

At first glance, I thought this would be appropriate to be asked in home repairs, but the more I think about it, I'm thinking you should go to the section in Philosophy to ask a question like this.

Good luck with your painting.

Oh, and by the way, it's the wrong color to begin with.

I'll take a guess.

They dip the right side in and then dip the left side in and they can then finish twice as fast. They don't let having a small can force them to go slower.

Isn't there like a home improvement section this question really belongs in?

Doesn't sound like they would do much painting at all.

Oh, you're asking a lot when you expect people to grasp your metaphor.

I'm being concrete here, but that's impossible.

Size does not matter, its how you use your brush.
