Note: There are 500,000 good Arabs in this part of Michigan and a Marine told me they (Marines) don't want to offend the Muslims.

That isn't the Marines that is basic government policy based on politically correct thinking and separation of church and state. I think it is carried to stupid extremes but such is life. Not designed to keep from offending Muslims in particular-Jews, some Christian religions, Buddhist, Hindus, Pagans, Wiccans and atheist all could possible be offended by it so it is just a PC thing. BTW-The Jewish faith treats Jesus as a :phony" and the Muslims actually list him as one of the other prophets which I always thought was curious but religion is a strange topic and thing anyway.

I do it because I don't know if I'm talking to Pagan/Heathen/Agnostic/Jew/Muslim/Christian/Wiccan (did I miss anyone?) and although the original white european season was for Christmas celebrations (but even most of these traditions are also pagan) the atmosphere around this time of year is kinda nice, and I like to wish them something. So, I wish everyone Happy Holidays......and the only people who've gotten offended are the crazy holier than thou types. And since they get offended at pretty much everything, I don't take much notice of them anyway
Happy Holidays y'all

I don't know why they would say happy holidays, I have been saying Merry Christmas for over 50 years now and refuse to say anything else just to appease a few!
I enlisted, I fought, I therefore deserve more of a right to say Merry Christmas as anyone else.

Christmas is a christian holiday and there is a separation of church and state. Agnostics are the ones that sued the government over celebrating the holiday.

Christmas is a holiday. It is not the only holiday.

"Happy Holidays" is a way to convey warm wishes to everyone and everyone, including those who observe Christmas.

"Merry Christmas," on the otherhand is more exclusive. The question is, do you only have warm regards for fellow Christians, or for all humanity?

I've never understood the fuss and nonsense. Christmas isn't shoved aside when someone says "Happy Holidays," it's included.

Why would you want to offend anyone. If the person is Muslim, you know good and well that they don't celebrate Christmas, so Happy Holiday's woudl be more appropriate.

Just like you would not expect a Jewish person to tell someone they knew was Christian "Happy Hanukah"

My opinion is that you shoudl be able to tell anyone anything you like, but it seems silly that you would go out of your way to tell someone Merry Chirstmas if you know that they don't celebrate Christmas

It's not just about offending Muslims, it's other religions as well. My friends mom had a little Christmas tree she would put on her desk at work every year, but someone was offended and complained. Her boss told her she had to place a Menorah on her desk as well, so as not to offend anyone. People of other religions were allowed to have their religious symbols on their desks without having to put one from another religion with it. There were Menorahs on the Jewish peoples desks, but no Christmas tree.

It's sad that things have become so politically correct. We can't say Merry Christmas but we can say happy Ramadan or happy Hannukah.

Another poor attempt to stir trouble by the well known anti-war troll erudite 2, clone of erudite, this lemon sucker will be sitting at home (dumpster at the rear of the Big Boy) alone, sucking lemons and calling his buddy jane fonda to say "humbug, bah! suck a lemon".

It wont be in any of one of the 500,000 good Arabs homes for the festive season.

Maybe your ACLU buddies had something to do with it. Do you still carry card?

Even so, Merry Christmas Erudite #2.
