I did a second interview, and then dicussed my salary, and off to get my drug test done. Everythin going good, and then today the lady calls me back and states she hired someone other then me! I ask her why did she have me take the drug test for? She said the person under her sent me by accident, and she was sorry. Oh, she did say that she wants to keep me in mind because she may call me in the nest 30 days? AHHHHH!! This is like a nightmare! I am wanting to pull my hair out strand by strand!! Please people...Has this kind of thing happened to you, and how did you handle the disapointment, and the feeling of dispair? Any help from my Yahoo family is SO appreciated! Thanks for letting me vent everyone :)

Hey Mr. Musicman !

Now what are you looking for? Sympathy or an honest evaluation of your status? Okay you have my sympathy but I have learned my lesson some 35 years ago when I got my first unemployment notice that the only way to get out of the hole is to stop digging.

So providing they did call you back and you did get a job, would this job come with the guarantee that you will have it for the rest of your working life or was there a possibility of being laid off again? Latter is more like it is it not? So why are you looking for the same all over again? That is the question you should honestly answer to yourself only.

There is NO SECURITY in jobs anymore. If there was you would not have some 2 million homes in process of foreclosure and the Mayors of N.Y.C., Dallas, Washington, L.A., Chicago and many other cities would not be meeting right now trying to figure out how to avoid some $30 billion dollar real estate disaster in 2008.

Today's economy is GLOBAL and our incomes and lifestyle are NOT dependent on jobs availability in our city, county, state or country anymore, providing we are capable to acknowledge this fact. Now, do we want to take advantage of this new opportunity or do we want to become victims of it? The choice is entirely upon us.

What is going to be your choice Mr. Musicman?

I am an expat in France.
I like my job but i needed a change. the same company has another branch and i can work there, too.
But we have to send a CV.
The guy in charge of the CVs saw that my name is not French and he asked me this: You have another sirname, name matches with French better?
My name is short, not complicated at all.
I was confused i asked why?
He said: Because if you have a French name you will have a better chance, because there are a lot of prejudiced people around you know.
And he said this to me as if he was talking about something very normal.
Of course now i don't want to apply for that brunch, it is their own loss, i can never work for people like this.
At least the branch i am working for is an international branch and nobody makes racist comments.
We are the brains and very well educated.
I hope you will find a job very soon. I hope this will be your dream job.
We have a saying in Turkish: One door closes the other door opens:-)
There is no pain. It is their own loss. Courage!

All I can say is that I'm sorry to hear and you're probably out of luck if you didn't get the offer in writing.

Well, that sure would be discouraging - to be so close, then not get the job. But keep looking - you'll find something.

Good luck.
