So I'm a recruit in the Navy recruit in the Dep program and I seem to be having some problems with my recruiter. Here in Illinois its 2:47 pm and my recruiter was supposed to pick me up at 1:30 so that I could get my stuff signed off in the back of my Dep book. So since he has blown me off today i haven't seen him in about a month and a half. And this is the second time we have planned to do something and he has not called to inform me that he is not going to be showing up, so i end up wasting my whole day waiting for him to come pick me up (i am car-less) and he NEVER calls. A normal person probably wouldnt get so annoyed by this, but Im completely anal about being on time/early and if I cant make it I always call. I'm excpected to do all these things to get ready (I leave for traingin on Feb 26th) and he cant even bother to call? So my question is what can I do about this? Should I talk his supervisor or should I try to switch recruiters? Thanks for your help in advance!

Over an hour and a half late with no call? Totally Unsat.

A few things you can do.
1. Call/email your recruiter letting him/her know that you're disappointed.
2. Call/email his supervisor letting them know that he/she's dropping the ball.
3. Or, since you're still in DEP you're not 100% obligated to enlist in the Navy. Call the Air Force recruiter, enlist and then send your Navy recruiter a copy of your enlistment papers from the AF thanking him for his lack of attention.

Recruiters should be held to a very high standard and should be doing everything possible to ensure you enlist. If he's not, he needs to be held accountable and his supervisor should definately be informed. I would recommend steps 1 and 2 above. The supervisor will probably ask whether you've let your recruiter know the issue. Also, addressing the issue with your recruiter before going to his supervisor is the best practice anyway within the military - try to resolve the issue with the person in question first.

Personally, I joined the Navy because the Air Force recruiter was not willing to drive 25 miles to my high school to meet with those of us interested in the military. The Navy recruiter was willing to drive out to my home after suppoer to speak with my parents. Because the Navy recruiter was willing to go to the effort, I felt that was the best branch to join.
As a side note, the Army recruiter did visit our school every month to check in with my classmates interested in joining the Army. Never saw the Marines recruiter even though all four shared offices in the same shopping center.

Tell your recruiter you're upset. If it's not resolved, inform his supervisor. If it's still not resolved either to go a different Navy recruiter or join another branch.

Best of luck.

That's is crazy, I'm also in the Dep program in the navy and i cant get them to stop calling, which is a good thing. You pro bally need to ask for a different recruiter. You are supposed to at least talk to your recruiter once a week so something is up.

Are there any other Navy recruiters in his office? If so, talk to one of them and explain what is going on. If he's the only one, try calling another nearby office and talk to them.

There are bad recruiters out there who just don't do their jobs unfortunately.

File a complaint for not being picked-up because it is crucial to your career.

Contact your Senator or Congressman immediately and inform them what happened. They will know who to contact to get your recruiter off his butt!!!
