I'm not Christian but I know at least 5 people who are devout Christians but choose not to go to church.
They regard their relationship with God to be a personal and private one. Good for them I say.

Going to a house of worship instills fellowship with other people who believe as you do. This is a deterrent from being around people who do not believe as you do to protect yourself from going astray.
God does in fact know every moment that you are thinking of him, because he is inherently in everything. it says so in the Bible, "For in him we live and breathe and move about..."
We can pray or otherwise worship anywhere and everywhere.

So we can worship as a group & concentrate all together on the same prayers, for feeling of fellowship, & ease of concentrtion. Also for fellowship after services & meeting friends in the congregation. Of course we cn pry at other times as well, when alone.

"Church" is not about a place it is about the people. My church meets in a school. I've visited other churches but it is always the people that impact my life not the building.
Hebrews 10:25 says we shouldn't forsake the assembling of ourselves together.
As long as you have other Christians you meet together with you are fine.

Church is a place to fellowship with other believers.
We pray and worship there also, because those are things believers enjoy doing all the time.
I learn things from other believers that strengthens my faith.

You don't have to go to church to worship God. However, church does help you to achive a closer relationship with God.

God gives us life here on the earth so we can slowly grow at the pace He sets for us , up toward understanding the importance of meeting together, in agreement, and many other reasons. It is all part of practice living.

Come on. Does anyone actually believe you can't worship God outside a building?

Religion and church going serves the purpose of community cohesiveness, fellowship, learning, serving others, getting help when needed, and so on. So church isn't for God's sake, it's for yours.

The fact that you went to the trouble of going to church seems to make your prayers that much more sincere.
Or so I've heard.
