Now, its not wrong to name the teddy any name including any of the Prophets names. Its a fact in Islam! It is different if she named it as 'Prophet Muhammad' because if she did then she should be corrected and if she still believes the same then prosecute her under the Sudanese laws. But i still believe that the grievances should not have escalated to the Judicial level. Muslims are human too and the Sudanese and anyone that agrees with them are wrong! I believe that this matter has been exaggerated to the extremes. It is unacceptable. Let her live her life in peace. and i am sure that she did not use the Prophet as the basis for naming the teddy.

Apparently, Islam has a copyright on the word "Mohammad" and that means only Muslims can use it. Although the word (as in the name, pre-dates the prophet himself) it is thought that although he was just a man like anyone else, He should have exclusive use of the name. Only Muslims can use it to name their children as a sign of devotion to the man they worship. So, in this capacity, a particular child in a group of school children, who love and care for a teddy bear, in the truest sense of love (Children are so good at love) wanted to name this bear, in loving fondness and reverence for the founder of their faith. Doing as all children do, mimicking Adults. So in naming the bear out of love... the ignorant Adults who are twisted in their dogma decide that the Teacher in charge should be arrested on grounds of racial and religious intolerance, insulting of Islam and other ludicrous charges.
I wonder what Mohammad, blessed be his name, would be thinking. Looking down on all these people and seeing that they are wanting if not demanding to give 40 lashes to a woman, some of whom may wish to behead her because she allowed the love of Children to to be expressed upon a child's teddy bear, in a way that only Children can express... No, its not hypocritical to allow Adults to name their Sons, after Mohammad - as no man with this name would dare ever sin. A teddy bear on the other hand.... pure evil.

Because the teddy bear is an inanimate object; this is considered an insult to the prophet.
FYI, even if the bear was real, the teacher would still be in trouble. Naming an animal after the prophet is also a no-no, since humans are higher in Allah's creation than animals. To name a lesser being after the prophet would be an insult.

Over the years I have had the "pleasure" of teaching a number of Muslims and they really are a sorry bunch. I was once informed that Christianity was wrong because we said that Christ was the son of God and, therefore, Christ would inherit everything when God died. Thankfully I was only teaching this person computing and not Theology and he was useless at computing as well.

Well she should have known how things are managed on muslim countries, after so many examples of how intolerant and fanatic some muslims can be it was expectable that she would put two and two together.
Still it is a very trivial thing and she shouldn't be imprisioned.

xians are guilty of the same thing. Just look at the enormous numbers of different denominations, all because of trivial, stupid, differences. It wasn't too long ago that witches were burned at the stake. Modern day xians bomb clinics, and murder gay people and protest at their funeral. Lovely religions they are, xianity and islam.
