Our bodies respond to physical training by the appearance of fitness as well as feeling fit.
There are also forms of "mind training" to attain a level of peace or nirvana as in Buddhist philosophy but I wonder if you can train your mind to stop feeling love for someone. If so, how would you accomplish that using a daily "training" technique.

bregweidd - true indeed, but I guess I wasn't specific to the form of love I was referring to as I believe in love at different levels, the way I love my spouse and my kids could never be an equal match

why would you stop feeling love for someone? Even if you didn't want to spend your life with a person, you should still love them, just love yourself enough to know what you want for your life
edit: I don't think we can really train ourselves to be unemotional. We can achieve a level of unemotionality, but not totally, it's just how we are. I can't see the reason to not want to love others. Yes, others take advantage of it, but that is the challenge in life - to love others, be used because of it, and keep loving

yes, i would think so. I know that by say for instance learning a second or third language expands the mind and makes many other things easier to learn. Also studying logic and advanced mathematics can help people solve complex problems faster. Meditation and games like chess have been proven to help people in problem solving and reasoning skills.

Stop feeling love? Well, you could attempt to try a variation of the Buddhist concept of unattachment, but this results in a different type of love for all humanity.

The Buddhist practice training their minds to become detached from worldy desires. As we attach our happiness to outside sources, our happiness becomes suffering since all things are temporary (except God if you will). Practice detachment and the Eightfold Path. You will not lose your love, but you will lose your attachment to it and therefore the suffering that comes with the attachment.

There is a really good book out on that called "Everyday Mindfulness" that talks about how to train your mind... but I don't think it was ever intended to stop love... nor do I think it can...
