Why aren't Liberal Muslims ever listened to?

Why are conservative Muslims representing Islam instead of us? we speak out yet no one bothers to listen. We've had our websites closed down, our women abused and issued with Fatwas, our religion's dictated to us (i.e, you're not Muslim!) and we're forced into repressive silence until it makes us look like cowards. Do the conservative orthodox Muslims know what they're doing? Why do they turn a blind eye to rape, domestic violence, gold digging, materialism, theft, tyranny, Muslim brothers abusing the rules, RACISM and petty issues yet focus on trivial issues like Hijab, having boyfriends, holding concerts, owning dogs and naming teddy bears Muhammad. Turkey holds a bad name just because of disallowing Hijab in court but other Muslim countries FORCE the veil onto women. That aint Islam, brothers and sisters.

why can't you let us speak out? Don't you realise the name you're givng to us aswell? You think we don't face the same discrimnation and problems as you do?

The news corporations are not interested in objective reporting. They tell us news with the appropriate spin that will make them money. Liberal Muslims have plenty of valid points but will not get publicity because they will not make for a good news story, and therefore not make profit for the news corporations.

maximum black everybody is liberals. maximum different minorities are liberals. Racism is grotesque no be counted who does it. Being racially mixed, most of the racism I have heard in my existence has been from Republicans. this is one reason i'm a Democrat. so some distance because the timber bypass....you're like a chook that poops in her personal nest. in case you do not guard the planet, the position are you going to get yet another. i do not imagine they are on sale everywhere. a sensible individual looks after issues and learns. Because stories about liberal Muslims are human interest stories, middle of the news paper, end of the brodcast material.

Religious zealouts are front page news, easily sensationalized on tv and much more interesting to watch. Most Americans cannot relate to them, they're the equivelent to Britney Spears exiting a car, or watching a snake feed - you don't want to look, but you're in awe of seeing something so grotesque and obscure.

The term liberal Muslim does not exist. If you are a true Muslim you cannot be liberal, you have to follow the rules of Islam and you cannot make your own rules. If you do not follow Islam rules then you become a bad Muslim and not a liberal Muslim. You need to differentiate between Muslims who adhere to the true teachings of Islam and the fanatics and terrorists who distort the teachings of Islam. Those last two do not represent Islam.

Don't blame others for not having the guts to stand up and say your point of view. I say alot of things that piss off alot of people and if someone tries to shut me up then I just say it louder ! It's not just Muslims that try to discredit other points of view, all people do. It's up to you to not be a pushover ! You have something to say, SAY IT.

It's all such a load of crap. We get this kind of shitty news everyday. Like yes we are gonna get the worlds best olympic stadium ever & yes the tubes will be air conditioned. We get fed such bullshit everyday & we lap it up into our mouths like a soup they say is delicious but actually has a bit of chef's piss in it. These kinds of stories only feed the hate monster. Everyones gonna hate the muslims & call them silly & the muslims will hate us infidels because they think we're disrespectful. The majority liberals in Islam are not listened to because they do not fit in with the needs of those who hate. Ignorant peasants need someone to rant against and reason doesn't allow the rant of the fool to happen!

I wonder how many of the people who have posted on here today know anything about Islam, Sudan, the School involved, the law of that country, the people involved, or anything at all about the situation there?

My guess is none of them. They just rant because they don't know anything but stupidity and hate.

I look forward to the day when I watch these 'liberal Muslims' marching through the streets of London protesting the draconian and unfair laws that can imprison an innocent teacher, for example.

I had to watch thousands of extremist Muslims marching through London a few months back, when they carried placards stating they were going to bring 'death' and 'more suicide bombings' to the city, and I also had to hear them calling for the death of Rushdie after he was knighted, even more recently.

When 'liberal Muslims' shout as loudly and angrily as their extremist brothers, I'm sure the world will be only too happy to listen, and support them.

Not all of us discriminate against all Muslims. The fanatics and abusers of women make the headlines unfortunately.
Any sensible non-Muslim knows acknowledges this and sympathises. I really, really hope you do not face 'racist' abuse because of the bigots.

As with all moderates, the problem is that such people are not well "out there" in front of the cameras.

Of course, if they were out there protesting and hurling stones and speaking bad epithets, wouldn't they become the very thing they avoided to be?
