i really checked in to see what other people said, since this is my first X-mas with my son (6mo) i think it is crazy to buy your kid 10+ gifts. when i was a kid i got 1 big one, and 2-4 little ones. but it had to be the same # of gifts as my brother or we would fight, LOL.

I have 6 kids. The 4 youngest kids at home usually get 10 gifts each plus there stockings. They get a couple of big gifts and the rest are smaller gifts. The older ones get 4 or 5.

I only have one child... but I got him about 15 gifts... With 4 kids it would be a little different... also depending on what they liked, and how much these things costed... I would say about 6 decent things each sounds good... they are going to share some stuff as well and get gifts elsewhere too... and if you have the extra money towards the end grab some little things here and there.

I don't pay attention to how many presents I buy. I just make sure that all the kids get approximately gifts worth about the same amount of $.

However, sometimes that doesn't happen and one kid gets a lot more then the others due to something they need.

Our son is 6, and I think we buy way too many presents. Just can't help it though because we want him to have as many things as we can get him. The number of presents from us to him is always between 8-10 gifts. From small to big, inexpensive to very expensive. I'm sure by next year things will calm down a bit since we'll have to split gifts between him and his sister.

me and my brother always recieved about 50 from my mom each, but there was only 2 of us so she probably wasn't as tight on money as i'm sure you are around christmas time with 4 kids and than everyone else... something she did though was try to concentrate on spending the same amount on each of us rather than worrying about who had how many presents that way it was fair between us, there were times when my brother had more than me and vise versa, but he would get something where i would get a bunch of small things or the other way around and it always worked out fine for me and him... with 50 gifts also, we would only have maybe 3-5 big things and the rest would be smaller nonexpensive gifts or things that we needed and money was going to be spent on anyway, socks clothes things like that, I don't think Christmas was ever a big thing in her house growing up and she wanted to give us the house with a bunch of lights and the tree with all the presents underneath of it, One year she got my brother a guitar and put that in one box, in another she put a couple books with music sheets, and in another she had extra strings, they could've all went in the same box, but i think she liked having a bunch of wrapped presents under the tree

My son is 5. For Christmas usually about 5 things plus a stocking. Depends on how much everything is though. For his birthday 3 things plus a party or special outing.

On Christmas Eve our kids get a pair of PJ's and a new hardcover book from Mom and Dad.

On Christmas Day Santa has filled their stocking with little stuff. He generally leaves between 3-5 gifts under the tree each year. (Same for each of the 3 kids.)

I know some people who always do 3 gifts - because of the 3 Wise Men.

I have also heard of people who do.....
"Something they want, Something they need, Something to wear and something to read"
.....each year.

he recieves about 2 big gifts from my husband and i.
(we have a huge circle of family and friends so i don't want to gift overload)

i usually buy him a couple of clothing items but i don't really include it as a gift. i just hang it up in my closet and he is allowed to wear it after christmas. clothes are things i have to buy him anyways.

We always only got three gifts when I was a kid.

Right now this is our sons first christmas... and since he's our only kid he's getting a butt load. We already have 8 gifts, and we're going shopping for more this weekend.

His gramma has bought him a room full of crap already, lol.
