In the Gospels of Thomas it says " you will be chosen one from a thousand and two from ten thousand" verse 23. In Matthew 22:14 Jesus said, many are called, but few are chosen, Matthew 7:14 it says few who will enter the narrow gate! There are plenty of stories by men who claim other wise, So if you do not know that you have been chosen, personally, then maybe you won't, Just keep lots of LOVE in your heart and follow the Golden Rule and your chances are as good as any one.

This may not be exactly what you are looking for, but you can discard what you don't like...

Almost everybody can be a Christian, but only very, very few make it to Heaven...

Matthew 7:13-14 (Jesus said) "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

And of the only FEW WHO FIND the narrow gate not all of them will be able to get in...

Luke 13:23-24 (NIV) Someone asked him, "Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?" He said to them, "Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to.

On top of that you need to hate your own family to follow Jesus!

Matthew 10:34-37 niv
"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn
" 'a man against his father,
a daughter against her mother,
a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law—
your enemies will be the members of your own household.' "Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves a son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

Luke 14:26 (NIV) Jesus Christ said, "If anyone comes to me and does not HATE* (*Greek=miseo=to abhor!) his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters--yes, even his own life--he cannot be my disciple."

Luke 14:33 (NIV) In the same way, any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple.

Mark 10:28-30 (NIV) Peter said to him, "We have left everything to follow you!" "I tell you the truth," Jesus replied, "no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age [RIGHT NOW!!!] (homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields--and with them, persecutions) and in the age to come, eternal life.

The acid test comes when Jesus finds out that you are neither hot nor cold and pukes you out of his Holy Belly... (Revelation 3:16) and the Bible tells you that only a dog goes back to eat his own vomit!

Jesus describes God as a loving Father (Prodigal Son story).

The verse you are speaking of is about those who have not come to the full realization of their divine inheritance as a Child of God. We are all Children of God, so sooner or later we all come to that realization... when we will know the Father and the Father will welcome his child as he did in the Story of the Prodigal son.

The whole thing is about an awakeinging... I am making reference to the Original Kingdom Gospel that Jesus preached, which is about light coming into the world.

This resource explains it very nicely.

Mat 7:21 Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter into the kingdom of Heaven, but the ones who do the will of My Father in Heaven.
Mat 7:22 Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name do many works of power?
Mat 7:23 And then I will declare to them, I never knew you; "depart from Me, those working lawlessness!"

He said that the false prophets that in His name casted out demons and healed the sick (in His name but with a different power) will be rejected from his presence and He will say that he dont know them.

Jesus said that in that day, MANY would come and claim the right to enter heaven based on their own good works.

"Didn't I preach in your name?" and "Didn't I heal in your name?", et cetera. But Jesus said "I say to you, depart from me, you workers of iniquity", because they were depending on their own good deeds rather than depending on God's grace and salvation through Jesus Christ.

Mat 7:21-27 (MKJV): "Not everyone who says to Me, Lord! Lord! shall enter the kingdom of Heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in Heaven. (22) Many will say to Me in that day, Lord! Lord! Did we not prophesy in Your name, and through Your name throw out demons, and through Your name do many wonderful works? (23) And then I will say to them I never knew you! Depart from Me, those working lawlessness! (24) Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on a rock. (25) And the rain came down, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house. And it did not fall, for it was founded on a rock. (26) And everyone who hears these sayings of Mine and does not do them shall be compared to a foolish man who built his house on the sand. (27) And the rain came down, and the floods came, and the wind blew and beat on that house. And it fell, and great was its fall. "

Matthew 25:40-42

"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'

"Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink,
