Okay:
1. Alta.
Why? Because I have skied at a huge number of places all across the country, and nowhere has any other American resort come close to matching Alta's terrain, powder, "attitude", and accessibility. In fact, I moved to Utah from NY State 6 years ago, specifically so that I could ski Alta.
Plus, Snowbird is right next door. Although they allow snowboarders, their terrain is equal to or even better than Alta.
2. Jackson Hole.
Best terrain, great snow. Not my fav because it's in the middle of nowhere.
3. Alpine Meadows in the Lake Tahoe area was pretty cool, but I haven't skied there for 15 years or so. Ditto with Arapaho Basin in Colorado.
BUT (this is an edit):
I have never skied Vail, Taos, or Telluride. I would be interested in giving them a whirl.

A judgement call. Everyone has their own favorite!
Snowbird and Alta for a powder packed, drop dead good time. Great steeps with easy access. Varied terrain with out of bounds sking second to none. Amazing restaurants and great food.
But... This area is not big on night life like Vail or Aspen. You do have easy access to SLC which has some outrageous private clubs that really rock and of course you have all the bennies of a big city being close. Like local sports teams, great airport and many more resorts in the immediate area. Utah is a ski-ers paradise. The Greatest Snow on Earth. The powder is too good!!!

Whistler - it's so huge there are runs where you don't see anybody even on weekends. Plus there's a lot to be said for skiing above the tree line!
