We have "stupid" people here, people screaming at others for being "stupid", and then people talking about the people who are screaming at the "stupid" people...

My question is - should we even be mad at people that we perceive to be "stupid"?

I think everyone's beliefs, decisions and judgments are based on what they know and what they've experienced. Maybe we should be more constructive, or informative rather than calling people names...? What do you think?

Eleventy... as noble as your response sounds... I think it highlights a related problem. I don't think anybody is justified in having arrogance, no matter how thoroughly we've thought things through, or how well we've studied up. We're all ignorant, the question is - to what degree.

Ignorance is acceptable. But when it's mixed with arrogance, it's ridiculous.

Ignorance: "If we came from monkeys..."
Ignorance + Arrogance : "You idiots think we came from monkeys..."

[edit] I completely agree. But there is a tolerable amount of ignorance as well as a tolerable amount of arrogance. The problem, for me, is when they coincide. I have no problem with a person not understanding gravity. I'm not angry at a scientist who can describe the details of gravity with a conceited way. I just think the knowledge should correspond with the confidence.

I think people are frustrated not with "stupid" people but with people uneducated in things that they preach and rant about. I don't expect people to know everything, and I certainly don't expect people to believe the same things I do, but when they get on here and preach about certain _facts_ that are completely baseless, quite frankly, that's rude and obnoxious. It's even more annoying when they try to turn their rants into questions, like "Do you know that real science disproves evolution and proves Creationism?" Clearly they aren't looking for any real answer. They just want a soapbox, which isn't what this place is made for.

the really stupid people are the ones that will never admit that they don't know what the hell they are talking about. I agree with Eleventy. stupidity is one thing, but arrogance + ignorance is what we should be mad at.

Anger resolves nothing. Everyone on the planet is stupid literally because no one knows everything but God.

That is why Jesus said call no one a fool.

When others are not measuring up- you need to check your yardstick. Everyone is perceived to be "stupid" about something during their lifetime, if you haven't yet, give it time, you just haven't lived long enough yet.

I don't see how getting mad at stupid people is ever constructive.

I can't think of one instant when getting mad at someone for being stupid is justified, to be honest.

If someone is mad enough to show their anger, they have a problem with self control, in my view.

We should only be mad at stupid people when their own stupidity is directly involved with something we are trying to do.

If they try to put their stupidity into our laws I get mad.

I agree! You will be judged the same way you judge others.

Sometimes they're not stupid - just unwilling to think. Shame is great motivator to make ppl think.
