how is this different from what god did to adam and eve?

he put the tree of knowledge in the garden of eden, and told two people with an understanding of good and evil comparable to a two year old's understanding of the dangers of guns...

You're obviously not familiar with the bible belt. Guns come free in packs of diapers.

Actualy, if I gave a child a gun, and said not to point it at their head, that would be far different than the Garden of Eden,
the reason you ask?
God told them what would happen if they sinned, telling a kid not to point, that doesn't explain what will happen, like telling a kid not to have sex, it doesn't explain the physical and mental ramifications.

So it's a bad example.

But, a good example might be, letting a person know where the matches are, and telling this person, what will happen if they light the house on fire, including the criminal charges for randomly lighting a house on fire, then having someone else tell them that if they light the house on fire they will collect millions of dollars and will never get caught.

Another good example:
Telling my child where a loaded gun was, and telling them how and why something would happen and telling them exactly what would happen if the gun went off and how to avoid that. Then having a strange man, come in when I was in the other room, and tell my child how if he simply put the gun to his head, he would become superman (who happens to be his hero) and that I lied to him about it, because I want the gun all to my self and I don't want him to be happy.
And after this con artist fully indocrtinated my son, he then would put the gun to his head, not understanding guns except what I told him which he would have trusted, and pull the trigger in his childhood innocence.

That would be more like it.

Remember the snake?
Satan.

His number one talant, decieving.

You forgot that part.

I look at the other side of that question, which is, if God hadn't given Adam and Eve (therefore us as well) free will, we'd all be bitching and complaining why we can't do what we want to do and have our own way.
So knowing He gave us free will, and then we decide to shoot ourselves in the foot (head) with that free will speaks more of our foolishness than God's.

wow. NO1HOME2's answer is the most ridiculous thing i have ever read in my entire life. it's the most ridiculous thing i've even heard.

there were a few christian answers on here that make valid arguements, but only because the theoretical incident you provided isn't detailed enough to prevent depletion.

ahahah. i'm going to provide this anecdote for a laugh:

yesterday i got into an arguement about racism. i was called a racist for saying i don't like muslims. they didn't understand that i meant practicing muslims--not just arabs. i had to go on to explain i don't like true believing christians--not just white people. it isn't my fault if they make up a large majority.

Oh? Is THAT what you REALLY think? Or are you just grasping at straws because you don't have enough to tear down a REAL straw man.

Maybe YOU would - it's in your mentality, after all, or you wouldn't have thought of it.

But God isn't a fool like you! Was Adam a "child"? Was God's warning not to eat the fruit like giving a loaded gun? Or was it like telling a child not to touch the hot stove because they can burn themselves? God was trying to warn them of the dangers, but they didn't believe Him.

YOU, however, I'm guessing that you wouldn't try to stop YOUR child from burning himself on a hot stove, or stopping her from eating poison, because that would be like "giving your child a loaded gun and telling them not to point it at their head", so you wouldn't warn them or try to stop them. In fact, I'm wondering if you wouldn't actually MAKE them burn their hand or drink the poison! (CHILD ABUSER!)

(And to think you have the audacity to blame GOD, when YOU are the one to be blamed for atrocities against children!!!!)

God gave them thousands of trees they could eat from and only one they were told not to eat from. Did they have to eat from it or was it just greed and selfishness that made them do it?

No I woudn't do that, but I would leave a stove in my house and tell the kids not to play with it.
I would have a bottle of wine and tell my kids not to drink it.
I would have electric outlets in my house and tell my kids not to stick thing in it.

And if they did any of those things, I would punish them.
How 'bout you?
