Yes. There are a lot of verses that point to this, but the most famous is Jeremiah 1:5 :
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you;
Before you were born I sanctified you;
I ordained you a prophet to the nations. "

Paul talks of how the Lord hated Esau before he was born in Romans 9:11-14. How can you hate someone who was not yet alive?

I think a majority of Christians accept this belief, but that it is not taught as a doctrinal point of emphasis in other churches.

I'm not sure if your question is addressing Mormons, but I'll answer as one. Yes, I believe that my spirit lived before my physical body. We all lived as spirits with Heavenly Father. We could only progress so far as spirits. So God created a world that would allow us to have physical bodies to be able to have experiences and learn to overcome physical trials and temptations.

Mormons believe in the pre-existance and Calvinist/christines believe in predestination.
Predestined scriptures:

Romans 8:29
For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.
Romans 8:28-30 (in Context) Romans 8 (Whole Chapter)
Romans 8:30
And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
Romans 8:29-31 (in Context) Romans 8 (Whole Chapter)
Ephesians 1:5
he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—
Ephesians 1:4-6 (in Context) Ephesians 1 (Whole Chapter)
Ephesians 1:11
In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will,
Ephesians 1:10-12 (in Context) Ephesians 1 (Whole Chapter)

That's the actual doctrine of what we believe. Other people may say random weird things but this is the actual doctrine.

Yes. Until we understand the pre-existance, we can't begin to understand WHY Heavenly Father loves us. When we realize our relationship with Him, every thing else comes into focus.

I am not Mormon, but if you did any biology at all, you'd know that life begins approximately 9 months before birth in humans.

Life begins at conception.

Yep...it is called the pre-existence. Once you understand this...a lot of questions that come up in this life are answered.

Yes, do you fancy that we just appear from nothing to life when we're born?, God created our souls first and then sent us here to see if we will obey his teachings and be worthly to come back to Him.
