E-9 = SERGEANT MAJOR or COMMAND SERGEANT MAJOR
corporal is the first rank where you are an NCO (non-commissioned officer)

E1-Private
E-2 Private first class
E-3 Lance Corporal
E-4 Corporal
E-5 Sergeant
E-6 Staff Sergeant
E-7 Gunnery Sgt
E-8 Master Sgt
E-9 to E-10 The ones in charge of the Marine Corps.

The recruiter above gave all the ranks correctly.
Basically a Corporal is a overpaid Private or an underpaid Sergeant. It really depends on them. If they are a good hard charging Corporal then they are learning quickly to be a Sergeant. If they made their rank because they waited in line for it, then....well lets say they never would last in one of my old platoons.

The corporal is like the assistant manager in a store, he dose all the work ,get the responsibility and none of the pay
