Hi I am 19 years old, in college. Should I get Christmas presents for my
friends in High School? I only see them about once a month, or less, and
talk to them maybe 2 times a week. They did not give me any birthday
presents or cards two months ago, but they pester me for birthday presents.
My mom suggested only to give presents to someone who gave me a Christmas
present. But only 2 of my friends gave me Christmas and birthday presents
last year. And before they gave me none. We do live in the same town, so
giving them presents would not be a problem. I really care about my
friends, and I want to at least give them cards.

You're not obligated or required to. However, you're always welcome to give gifts to anyone during Christmas.

My advice: you've thought about them so they're important to you. That's all that matters. Purchase them small gifts but nothing that will strain you financially... just something to show that you care (handwritten card, small lotions for the girls or something to that effect). If you don't receive anything in return - who cares !? :)!!! It's Christmas!!! :)

And if you can't afford it everyone will understand. 19 and in college is a notoriously financially tight time.

Happy holidays!!!

Here is an idea that will work for you and your friends. You all get together some where for an evening out, each pays their own way. Go for a nice dinner and movie for example to celebrate everyones birthday and Christmas all at one time. Give them all a card if you wish. But specify NO GIFTS. This is equal for everyone. Make it cards only. This works, and can continue for years to keep up with what is happening in each others life. Have Fun...

Your "friends" are users. If you want to give them a gift just to shut them up then buy the pack of Lipsmackers Lipbalm ( they come in, like, packs of 5 or 6 or something like that) break them apart. Put one in a card for each of your friends and then write inside " Don't say I never gave you anything". Maybe they'll get the message and if they say anything than you know they're ungrateful people and you should drop them.

Send them cards and a Value-pack candy bar from China.

That'll shut them up. If not, ignore them unless they give you a nice gift first.

Gifts are voluntary, so there's no real should or shouldn't.

Though why you'd want to give gifts to people who DEMAND them is beyond me.

If you want to (and can afford to) give gifts to your friends, do so; if not, call it a day.

Cards show you're thinking about them and wish them well.

It depends you can continue allowing them to use you as someone else said or you can not and show them that you arent going to take it. I mean seriously i know you want to be nice but what they are doing isnt right

Always follow what your own mind tells you... If giving them present will make you happy so why not. Give them and even the best. so, they will have more respect for you.
