A child. Other than that, I see your point.

Children brought in by illegal aliens. A 1 year old child is not making a concerted effort to be carried across the border.

i disagree with the children not being illegal unless as an adult they leave the country to apply to come back legally. i disagree with the dream act in principal for that reason (amongst others). what is being asked of us is to amnesty children who are old enough to know right from wrong. let's look at it like this if these minor children or any child were party to or had knowledge of a crime would the U.S. hold them accountable. the answer is yes they would and in that it makes special rules for a special group (illegals). it's an argument that can't be won because it lacks uniformity with the way we deal with citizen and legal minor children criminals in the U.S. don't forget we charge and try our own minors as adults every day. so i say from about the age of 10 or 11 the illegal child is responsible for their illegal status (as again this is an age citizen children are charged with crimes) as they would be deported as would an illegal child of any age if they were caught. so the dream act conveys to an illegal child a lack of responsibility for an illegal act that has transitioned in responsibility to them. it's the wrong message. so a child younger then 10 or 11 did not choose to be illegal but they are illegal and they will be deported with the parent. pretty selfish of the parents to put the children in such a bad position.

As everyone pointed out children do not in many cases have the ability to make that decision.

But once they reach adulthood they know right from wrong and should leave.

Anyone who supports the DREAM act might as well place a target on every real Americans shirt. Millions more will flood over the border as it did not ever have an end date, millions more will fraudulently obtain citizenship, and millions more will flood over waiting for the next amnesty.

Amnesty has never worked and will never work no matter how you dress it up or what you call it!

Children......I suppose out there somewhere there mught be someone who was seriously ill who's family said they were bringing them here for help and intrusted them to obey the law and find out later they didn't........mentally disabled just following family instructions.

I'm afraid "I forgot" and other excuses don't fly too well for those who came legally but overstayed their visas. Many apply under one thing, figuring once they get here they'll just play it out till they are caught.

I'm sure knowing how the government has a tendency to screw things up there are those who may have gone through things legally and got help up in the process and figured they were ok since things were in motion.

Mostly the children though. I do have to disagree strongly with the poster about the "Dream Act". We have children throughout this country born into less than perfect situations who don't get a break because of who their parents are or what decisions their parents made. It is not the tax payers job to make-up for their parents mistakes when they aren't citizens to begin with. The problem is getting things our own citizens don't get no matter what their living situation. Why should lawbreakers and their offspring get rewarded for breaking the law? Not every poor student gets a chance at college. We have people living along state lines who can't get instate tuition. We have children who have divorced parents living in different states and can't. Not to mention atleast in my state they do allow illegals to go to college with in-state tuition and now they want if for free. I mean forget it. They already got more than their own country provided for free. College isn't a guarentee. They can go....it's not like they are prohibited from it. Just pay up. Get yourself in debt like the rest of so many students have to. Go part time. File for citizenship and wait and go later on in life. Go back to Mexico or wherever and go to college there. Sure doesn't help your cause when with the aid of translator....after being here over 10 years and going through the public school system...comming out to say..."I go to school...I did good...I want college to get an education to help MY PEOPLE." Why the heck should I pay for your education with MY money so you can help a specific group, not speak the language, etc. when my own kid can't get it? People have come to this country LEGALLY and GENERATIONS go by before some get the oppertunity to go to college. Heck....there's been NO dues paid to earn squat from illegals and you're expecting the whole ball of wax handed to you for free? I mean does Mexico provide free or reduced college for anyone who makes it across their border? Does any country?

Many illegals are forced into smuggling drugs across the border against their will.

I don't think they have any concept of legality.
