My little brother has a lot of classic children's books, but I've been told you can get really lovely modern books now, and I'd like to get him a few for Christmas...he loves stories and I really want to encourage him to love reading when he's a bit older!

Does anyone have any recommendations or favourites?

Thankyou :)

Yep, the Eric Carle books are really great for this age. Sandra Boynton books are fun too - my daughter really liked Barnyard Dance.

My son (22 months) LOVES the Eric Carle books with sound. The Very Quiet Cricket, The Very Clumsy Click Beetle and Dream Snow are all great. There is also a pop up book called TheWide Mouth Frog that is excellent.

I have a 22 month old and a 3 year old. And their favorite book is called Dinasour Kisses by Margaret Wang. Next is Dora Bedtime Stories, and after that I love you Mommy and I love you Daddy. Also there is a book called 100 first words and it has pictures of all the normal first words for kids... and they look at that one and say the names of all the words ALL THE TIME... it is a great one for the coffee table and has given them hours of entertainment.

I always loved the gingerbread man, Hansel and gretel and all those things, My nephew likes the books you can buy from bookstores, like picture books. Old bear is a nice one, so is a story collection with big pictures in, and not forgetting the eric carle books they are great!!! Good luck!!
