I'm a very recent graduate, but have been working for an accounting company in Los Angeles. They pay me about $21 an hour and I'm just curious what the average wage is for someone like me.

Thank you!!

Right after college? $6400, as a high school full time (9 month) science teacher. That was in 1964, so not nearly as bad as it sounds.

You are probably doing OK, but with the cost of living in LA I'm sure it doesn't seem like much. But you've got a good start, anyway.

LA and SF pay higher than the rest of CA and that I think that is a pretty average wage for your region for a recent grad in acocunting with no experience. My husband has a small accounting practice near Santa Barbara and he would probably start a recent grad around $18 an hour and going to that wage in a couple years. But LA pays more than our region, there is a shortage of accountants (especially experienced ones) and wages in this field are rising.

He is looking for a senior tax accountant right now and depending on experience (and he'd prefer at least 5 years experience), he'd be willing to pay $50-$75K a year. It would be salary because everyone works overtime in tax season.

$21/hour that's around $44k/year working 8 hours and 5 days a week(~22 days a month) which isn't bad.

If you have no previous experience I'd say like $25k-$35k for a fresh starter in LA. $40k or over is cool.

Just a curiosity, here in brazil someone like you would earn around usd$5k-$9k/year
